QUESTION
I'm using ECS with Fargate and trying to create a bind mount on ephemeral storage but my user (id 1000) is unable to write to the volume.
According to the documentation, it should be possible.
However the documentation mentions:
By default, the volume permissions are set to
0755
and the owner as root. These permissions can be customized in the Dockerfile.
So in my Dockerfile I have

Answered 2022-Feb-17 at 14:15Turns out /var/run

instead of /var/run/php
and everything works perfectly.
QUESTION
Just today, whenever I run terraform apply
, I see an error something like this: Can't configure a value for "lifecycle_rule": its value will be decided automatically based on the result of applying this configuration.
It was working yesterday.
Following is the command I run: terraform init && terraform apply
Following is the list of initialized provider plugins:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Feb-15 at 13:49Terraform AWS Provider is upgraded to version 4.0.0 which is published on 10 February 2022.
Major changes in the release include:
- Version 4.0.0 of the AWS Provider introduces significant changes to the aws_s3_bucket resource.
- Version 4.0.0 of the AWS Provider will be the last major version to support EC2-Classic resources as AWS plans to fully retire EC2-Classic Networking. See the AWS News Blog for additional details.
- Version 4.0.0 and 4.x.x versions of the AWS Provider will be the last versions compatible with Terraform 0.12-0.15.
The reason for this change by Terraform is as follows: To help distribute the management of S3 bucket settings via independent resources, various arguments and attributes in the aws_s3_bucket
resource have become read-only. Configurations dependent on these arguments should be updated to use the corresponding aws_s3_bucket_*
resource. Once updated, new aws_s3_bucket_*
resources should be imported into Terraform state.
So, I updated my code accordingly by following the guide here: Terraform AWS Provider Version 4 Upgrade Guide | S3 Bucket Refactor
The new working code looks like this:
QUESTION
I am writing a lambda function that takes a list of CW Log Groups and runs an "export to s3" task on each of them.
I am writing automated tests using pytest
and I'm using moto.mock_logs
(among others), but create_export_tasks()
is not yet implemented (NotImplementedError
).
To continue using moto.mock_logs
for all other methods, I am trying to patch just that single create_export_task()
method using mock.patch
, but it's unable to find the correct object to patch (ImportError
).
I successfully used mock.Mock()
to provide me just the functionality that I need, but I'm wondering if I can do the same with mock.patch()
?
Working Code: lambda.py

Sure, by using mock.patch.object()

QUESTION
I'm using AWS Eventbridge and I have the exact same rule on my default bus as on a custom bus. The target for both is an SQS queue. When I push an event I can see a message on my queue which is the target of the rule of my default bus.
I don't see anything on the queue of the rule of my custom bus. Also the metrics don't show an invocation. What am I doint wrong? I've created a custom bus.
I tried both without any policy as with the following policy:

Answered 2022-Jan-24 at 11:31Your custom bus will not receive any "aws.ssm"
events. All aws.*
are going to default bus only. The custom bus can only receive custom events from your application, e.g.:

QUESTION
My application is a sprint boot application that uses log4j2 and runs in a Wildfly server. After the zero day attak, we upgraded to the latest log4j2 version(2.16). But after the log4j upgrade, my application stops working once in a while. And when I looked at the threaddumps, I found that there is a deadlock created by log4j. Here is my log4j configuration. It was working fine before the upgrade.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Dec-23 at 16:03Found my answer in this thread https://developer.jboss.org/thread/241453. It is a log4j/jboss configuration issue. The fix is to either exclude jboss logging subsystem from jboss deployment configuration or get rid of the console appender. Thanks to Ralph Goers from Log4J team for guiding me towards the jboss thread.
I have closed the issue that I raised to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4J2-3274. The code snippet that I shared in this question was from log4j-1.2 compatibility adapter which doesn't has any impact in my code because I am already using the latest api version.

I'm trying to create a bash script to update EC2 instances to the latest version of Boto3. To do so I need to place the .zip file into a specified S3 bucket. QUESTION
I have a multi-tenant application and the backend comprises of the microservices. The tenant admin will have a preferences page on the UI that can store system preferences for the tenant (i.e all users of the tenant).
I am thinking about what the best place for storing this would be?
SSM or Dynamo? Any trade-offs here for this use case?
we have a tenant microservice or we could create a system preferences microservice to store the preferences. I am trying to avoid all cross-service communication so the user of each tenant will get all the preferences on login and will send them back in the header. Should we continue to store the preferences in the tenant DB or system preferences microservice is the way to go?

Answered 2021-Dec-08 at 01:24Configuration variables usually are stored in SSM Parameter Store. For one its free. From docs:
Parameter Store, a capability of AWS Systems Manager, provides secure, hierarchical storage for configuration data management and secrets management.
SSM Parameter Store also integrates natively with many other services. For example, you can seamlessly use them to pass secrets to ecs containers.
QUESTION
I'm trying to get a list of all resources of type AWS::SSM::Parameter defined in a Cloudformation template, using the Java AWSCDK. The template file is being loaded and parsed as a CfInclude object. Am I overlooking something, or is there really no way to iterate over all resources in CfInclude? All I see in the documentation for software.amazon.awscdk.cloudformation.include.CfnInclude is getResource, which requires the logical ID to be known.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Dec-01 at 22:37You can reference all resources with getNode().findAll()
.
For example to list all IAM Roles defined in the included file:

Install ssm
You can use ssm like any standard Java library. Please include the the jar files in your classpath. You can also use any IDE and you can run and debug the ssm component as you would do with any other Java program. Best practice is to use a build tool that supports dependency management such as Maven or Gradle. For Maven installation, please refer maven.apache.org. For Gradle installation, please refer gradle.org .
