            I'm using the mysqldump library, and mysql-import. I need to do a restore of my MySQL database, but at the time of doing it, it tells me that you cannot add duplicate files, therefore I manually put DROP TABLE IF EXIST, and it worked and overwritten the database, according to In the Mysqldump documentation there is a way to add the DROP TABLE by default, but I really don't know how to do it, can someone help me?

            I got the solution of my this query and answering it so that could help anyone else in future. I am importing my sp.sql file using require('require-sql'); Then replacing \n\r with space. It works and create stored procedure in respective database.

            I think your MySQL service is not running. That is why you cant connect to MySQL.

            To confirm this you can open a terminal to your container and check if MySQL service is running.

            If you want to run multiple services in one container you need to do a few things. Read here for a detail explanation.

            Alternatively you could have two separate containers for this, using docker-compose is quite easy to get this running. Create a docker-compose.yml file with this content:

            From MySQL Reference Manual on Supported Spatial Data Formats:

            Internally, MySQL stores geometry values in a format that is not identical to either WKT or WKB format. (Internal format is like WKB but with an initial 4 bytes to indicate the SRID.)

            So, inserting WKB values (such as those generated by wkx) cannot be done directly. Instead, use ST_GEOMFROMWKB() as described here.

            I am working on an ARM template that will ask for a comma separated list of db names and then create them using the copyIndex function. This aspect is working great but the next step of my solution is not. What I would like to do next is Import a .bacpac file for each database so that it is ready for use upon completion.

            The validation error indicates the issue is with the concat function in the Import resource dependsOn. I have tested it a handful of different ways and can not see where it is wrong.

            The exact error message I am seeing is....

            As far as I know, we couldn't use the copyindex function in the nested resources.

            If you run your arm template, you will face this error:

            Copying nested resources is not supported. Please see https://aka.ms/arm-copy/#looping-on-a-nested-resource for usage details.'.

            So I suggest you move the nested resources as root resources in arm template. Then you could use the copyindex.

            How can I send data in csv format from memory to a database without saving the csv to disk?

            I am putting together a system that collects data from Quandl and stores it in a database. I should note that there is no commercial aspect to what I am doing (I have no customer/employer). I am doing this as a hobby and to hopefully learn a thing or two.

            Anyway, the challenge I have set myself is to build a system that automatically downloads data from Quandl and stores it in a database, without ever saving zip or csv files to disk.

            Quandl provides daily 'delta' files which can be downloaded as zip files. The zip files are extracted to csv files. I have managed to get as far as downloading the zip files and extracting the csv files all in memory, using a MemoryStream, ZipArchive, and StreamReader in .Net (F# specifically - happy to provide a code snippet if required).

            Now the challenge I am stuck on is how to get this over to my database. The database I am using is MariaDB (which is essentially the same as MySQL). I am using this because this is the only type of database my NAS supports.

            Options are

            1. Give up on my objective of not ever saving to disk and save the csv to disk, then pass the file path to a stored procedure as in this answer.
            2. I can convert the csv data into JSON or XML and pass it to a stored procedure and have the server parse the string into a tempory table. I have done this before using SQL Server and am assuming something similar is possible here.
            3. Read the csv line by line and pass to the database line by line. This is really a non option as it would be very slow.

            Seems like 2 is the best option I know of. Is there a more direct way that does not involve converting csv to JSON or XML?

            LOAD DATA INFILE will be, by far!, the fastest way to go. But it does require you to put the CSV data into a file system. You may have a temporary, even a RAM, file system in your setup for doing this.

            In the dotnet world, there's a robust module for reading CSV data from streams. Files are a special case of streams. The module is called, for historic reasons, Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO.TextFieldParser. (It works fine outside Visual Basic, it just has a name from long ago.)

            If you use this approach, you can improve performance by inserting multiple rows of the CSV in each transaction. There are two ways to do that.

            We have a quite large (at least to us) database that has over 20.000 tables, which is running in an AWS EC2 Instance, but due to several reasons, we'd like to move it into an AWS RDS instance. We've tried a few different approaches for migrating into RDS but as per the data volume involved (2TB) and RDS' restrictions (users and permissions) and compatibility issues, we haven't been able to accomplish it.

            Given the above facts, I was wondering if PostgreSQL actually supports something like mapping a remote schema into a database, if that would be possible we could try to tinker individual per schema migrations and, not the whole database at once, which would actually make the process less painful.

            I've read about the IMPORT FOREIGN SCHEMA feature which seems to be supported from version 9.5 and, that seems to do the trick, but is there something like that for 9.4.9?

            You might want to look at the AWS Database Migration tool, and the associated Schema Migration tool.

            This can move data from an existing database into RDS, and convert - or at least report on what would need to be changed - the schema and associated objects.

            You can run this in AWS, point it at your existing EC2-based database as the source, and use a new RDS instance as the destination.
