kandi X-RAY | react-native-geolocation Summary
The Geolocation API extends the Geolocation web spec. Currently, on Android, this uses the android.location API. This API is not recommended by Google because it is less accurate and slower than the recommended Google Location Services API. This is something that we want to change in the near future

For example if your state value is a number
type annotation is not required.

QUESTION
I just followed the following tutorial - https://blog.jscrambler.com/how-to-use-react-native-geolocation-to-get-postal-address
It works great and I used the Expo Go iOS simulator in visual studio code. However I want to test it on my real phone now.
This may be an obvious question, but how do I run it on my own phone instead of the simulator?

QUESTION
I have a React-Native app which is working perfectly fine on debug. But the app doesn't open on release build.
Disabling proguard fixes the issue. So I started looking installation documentation for each third party package installed and my proguard rules seemed fine. Sadly I couldn't detect which package is creating the issue.
My question is : how can I detect which third party package is causing this issue ?

QUESTION
I am working on a React Native app that works both on Android and iPhone. I have a feature where you can "share my current location". This works very well and accurately on iPhone but on Android, it only shows the correct city/locality however the actual location is far off from your street. For getting the location I use the https://github.com/Agontuk/react-native-geolocation-service library.
Here's the relevant code, I'm simply calling Geolocation.getCurrentPosition, not doing anything special. And I'm asking for high accuracy in options. Any ideas on how I can improve the accuracy on Android?
Edit: If I open Google Maps on the same Android phone, I get the accurate/correct location.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Nov-15 at 11:55I figured out that the issue was that I did not have the ACCES_FINE_LOCATION
permission in my AndroidManifest.xml
. It's a bit confusing because this did not result in any actual error, it just did not give accurate location instead.
So just add this to the manifest file
QUESTION
can someone explain to me how can I return a value from another component?
I tried the following:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Sep-05 at 22:30Because getCurrentPosition
is an async process wrap the code in a promise and return that. It will resolve the promise with the data when the process is complete.
You can then decide if you want to use async/await
or a traditional then
to access the data when its returned.
QUESTION
I am using the react-native-geolocation-service package, and everything works like a charm. But now I am required to track a users location both in the foreground and in the background. I was wandering if the watchPosition method supports background location watching or is it just when in the app? and if it doesn't support it, what would be the alternative?
Thanks
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jul-28 at 15:16I've used it in the past and it's not straightforward. I tried with the package you mentioned and a few others. I've settled up for the react-native-background-geolocation.
You might encounter problems when switching from the background to the foreground (assuming you also need to track the location in the foreground). They can be fixed by adding a Listener.

looks good to me. You may want to check that you are also mapping your .js
files to a transformer.
For example, if you are using TypeScript, the transform
property of your jest.config.js
