Need a regex command to find a value in an xml file
            Asked 2020-May-29 at 14:15

I have a large xml file that is within a logging statement. I am using Splunk to extract values from the xml file. I have to use regex to find these values because I cannot change the config files. I requested the change but it is pending... This is an example of the xml file:

You can use this as a temporary workaround:

Splunk query does not return multiple instances of the field values

I have a Splunk query that identifies all of the fields extracted from the xml file but not all of the instances of the data. There is a huge xml file that has multiple instances of the result but only identifies 1 result in the field list. This is the query:

This is how I was able to get multiple instances of a value in an xml file...

You can tell rex to return both of them using the max_match option.

Using Splunk - extract fields from xml data in a log file using xpath
            Asked 2020-May-28 at 15:41

I am using Splunk to extract a number of fields from xml data this is contained in a log file. So to limit the search to be MOSTLY the xml file I start the search with this: sourcetype="name of type here" "RULE"

            This returns:

Without seeing the rest of the event data, I can't say why the xpath command isn't working.

However, as a workaround, try the following instead of the xmlkv and xpath commands
