            Apparently, when a function name is indicated, it might mean that the stack of that function overflowed. I added the static keyword to some arrays inside vcode_synth_frame_rate, and that SIGSEGV error disappeared.

            I still did not understand this very well, if anyone has more detailed information please add an answer and I'll mark it as the accepted answer.

            Pyo Python DSP Module Won't Deploy to Heroku

            So I'm trying to put up a demo of a django project on Heroku that runs fine locally and loads when I uninstall the package Pyo, but it throws an OSerror when I reinstall it (OSError at / Exception Value: /app/.pyo/3.6_64/libs/libasound-fb332ab3.so.2.0.0: cannot open shared object -- see below for full traceback). I've added a buildpack that installs the libasound and recommened packages, but I still get the error. What am I missing? I see the Linux wheel fix symlink (https://github.com/belangeo/pyo/blob/master/pyo/_linux_wheel_fix_symlinks.py). Is the issue here? Any help greatly appreciated.

            I just want to leave this for anyone else who experiences this issue in the future. Pyo will not work on a hobby dev Heroku DYNO due to the symlink wheels created that attempt to reach out of the ./app folder for ibasound-fb332ab3.so.2.0.0 and libjack-07a61c7b.so.0.1.0, but Heroku apps can't reach out of that directory because it's where everything is stored.

            You can install on other cloud environments like Digital Ocean & Amazon EC2 where you can install Ubuntu on the server and have full access. I chose Digital Ocean for a while, but ended up just teaching the client how to run the web app locally and writing code to push the generated files to Amazon s3.

            Best method to speed up/slow down spoken english (NOT music) recording

            I am looking for an algorithm to speed up English speech. Algorithms used for speeding up music generate many artifacts over doubled speed, and I am looking for something that works even at speeds of 3x or 4x with acceptable clarity.

            Voice, intonations, pauses, all need to be preserved as much as possible, so a speech-to-text + text-to-speech method will not work.

            The traditional vocoder methods seem to be not sufficient (obviously I do not know all of them). I am interested in some new procedural or machine learning-type method. I have hundreds of hours of lectures for each speakers with transcript, so training would not be a problem.

            Use case: lecturers just speak at an impossible slow pace. E.g. I usually am listening recordings at 2x speed on Lynda, and those guys are not even very slow.

            When you execute process.py you're already located inside the mapper package. Python will look through all the path defined in sys.path to find module, which in this case is only made of ["standard python path", "Mapper/mapper"].

            In this case, python won't find a module named mapper inside those directories (you already are IN the mapper module).

            Solutions for you :

            1. Use the notation : from .binconvert import tocsv (conform to PEP 328)
            2. Move up from 1 directory before start and launch process.py from the Mapper directory
            3. Change the PYTHONPATH environment variable before launching process.py by adding the Mapperpath

            I can pitch shift an entire signal using resample and I have tried the phase vocoder code here.

            I've also tried repmat and interpolation and I looked into fft and interp1

            How can I incrementally / gradually change the pitch of a signal over time? I've included an example of the Original Signal and what I'm trying to get the Processed Signal to sound like (I created the processed signal using Audacity and using their effect Sliding time scale / pitch shift) But would like to create this signal in Octave 4.0. If you listen to the Processed Signal you can hear the pitch of the file gradually increasing but the file is the same length in (seconds) as the Original Signal file.

            I'm using Octave 4.0 which is like Matlab

            Here's The code which can change the pitch of the entire signal and keep the same length of the original signal in seconds, but I'm not sure how to have it gradually change the pitch of a signal over time. Thanks goes to rayryeng for getting me this far.

            My answer doesn't give exactly the same result as the one you posted, but I think it's interesting and simple enough to give you the important concepts behind pitch stretching. I haven't found the method I'm proposing elsewhere on the web, but I can't imagine no one has thought of this before, so it might have a name.

            The first thing to realise is that if you want to apply transformations to the pitch over time, and not just offset it over the entire timecourse, you need to work with pitch "features" that are defined at each time-point (eg time-frequency transforms), as opposed to ones that summarise the entire signal contents (eg Fourier).

            It's important to realise this, because it becomes evident that we need to involve things like the instantaneous frequency of your signal, which is defined as the derivative of the Hilbert phase (typically taken as (1/2Pi) * dPhi/ dt to work in Hz instead of rad/s).

            Assuming that we can transform the instantaneous frequency of a signal, we can then translate the idea of "increasing the pitch incrementally" formally into "adding a linearly increasing offset to the instantaneous frequency". And the good news is, that we can transform the instantaneous frequency of a signal quite easily using an analytic transform. Here is how:
