QUESTION
I am using a script to recursively list all the files in a Google drive folder to a spreadsheet. It is working fine but i need to sort the file listing by size ( highest size on top ). Also drive api returns value of size in bytes but i need them in GB's . I haven't found any way to do it through api directly ,so i want to divide the size value of each file by 1073741824 upto 1 decimal rounding it off ( 1 GB = 1073741824 bytes )
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-16 at 02:55- In your script, the values are put to the Spreadsheet using
appendRow
in the loops. In this case, the process cost will be high. Ref And also, in this case, after the values were put to the Spreadsheet, it is required to sort the sheet. - So, in this answer, I would like to propose the following flow.
- Retrieve the file list and put to an array.
- Sort the array by the file size.
- Put the array to the Spreadsheet.
When above points are reflected to your script, it becomes as follows.

I've created a simple VBA interface to connect Excel to a MySQL DB. The VBA part acts as a preview of data for the user to choose what item he wants to import to the Excel sheet.
Until now I've work with a very complete set of data, but I got to a Table which (because of the nature of the items) some fields are NULL.
Now every time I try to check the values in the VBA I get the Run-time error 13 Type mismatch in the listview component. At first I though it was a field with DECIMAL typing, but after changing it to a DOUBLE (for testing) the problem persisted, and it was until I notice that if only checks columns with no NULL value, the problem disappears. Off course I can't omit this values.
I tried some .Tostring functions but with no success. And I failed to implement a IF to check for NULL in the obj.
This is my code:

Answered 2021-Apr-13 at 10:28If you don't want to add a IsNull
-function in you SQL (as Nathan_Sav suggested as a comment): There is a IsNull
-function in VBA. With that, you can create a simple function that returns for example an empty string (or a 0 or whatever you prefer):

I am crunching large amounts of data without a hitch until I added more data. The results are written to file as strings, but I received this error message and I am unable to find programming error after combing my codes for 2 days; my codes have been working fine before new data were added.

Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 07:04First of all: a Rat
with a denominator of 0
is a perfectly legal Rational value. So creating a Rat
with a 0 denominator will not throw an exception on creation.
I see two issues really:
- how do you represent a
Rat
with a denominator of0
as a string? - how do you want your program to react to such a
Rat
?
When you represent a Rat
s as a string, there is a good chance you will lose precision:
QUESTION
byte b = 0b1111_1111;
byte c = 0b111_1111;
byte d = 0b0111_1111;
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 10:44All basic integer types in Java are signed. To be exact, byte
, short
, int
and long
are signed big endian two complement integers. That means that they run from - 2n-1 to 2n-1 - 1 where n is the number of bits - 8 for a byte (Byte.SIZE
in Java), and therefore the range is from -128 to 127.
The number you are using is always an integer; number literals always are. However, the integer is actually the value 0x000000FF
in hexadecimals. That cannot be stored as it is higher than 127. You can however do an explicit conversion; your value does consist of 8 bits after all.

Can anyone explain to me why this code:

QUESTION
I want to round numbers so that two numbers are used after the last zero, or decimal if the number is greater than 1. I've looked up the documentation for round, but can't seem to find this feature.
If I use round, it always round to n decimals places regardless.
This is the output I'm looking for:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 09:30The kind of rounding you're asking for isn't a common operation.
In terms of common operations you have two cases (ignoring sign since all your examples are positive):
- If the value is less than 1, round to significant figures (eg per the link in @quamrana's comment on the question).
- Else (ie the value is at least 1), round to decimal places in the usual way.
Your final code would reasonably be a function with a simple if-else:
QUESTION
Will I possibly loose any decimal digits (precision) when multiplying Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER
by Math.random()
in JavaScript?
I presume I won't but it'd be nice to have a credible explanation as to why 😎
Edited, In layman terms, we're dealing with two IEEE 754 double-precision floating-point numbers, one is the maximal integer (for double-precision), the other one is fractional with quite a few digits after a decimal point. What if (say) I first converted them to quadruple-precision format, then multiplied, and then converted the product back to double-precision, would the result be any different?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 02:48Your implementation should be safe - in theory, all numbers between 0 and MAX_SAFE_INTEGER should have a possibility of appearing, if the engine implementing Math.random
uses a completely unbiased algorithm.
But an absolutely unbiased algorithm is not guaranteed by the specification - the numbers chosen are meant to be psuedo random, not truly, completely random. (does such a thing even exist? it's debatable...) Modern versions V8 and some other implementations use an algorithm with a period on the order of 2 ** 128, larger than MAX_SAFE_INTEGER (2 ** 53 - 1) - but it'd be completely plausible for other implementations (especially older ones) to have a much smaller period, resulting in certain integers within the range being picked much more often than others.
If this is important for your script (which is pretty unlikely in most situations, I'd think), you might consider using a higher-quality random generatior than Math.random
- but it's almost certainly not worth worrying about.
QUESTION
I'm working on a Project where I have a lot of decimal fields in every model and want to put comma all of them.
I can use helper mutators or PHP number_format()
while fetching. The problem is I have to do it for every field.
Is there any simple solution for this??
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 08:33The best way to do this is to use custom casts :
https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/eloquent-mutators#castables
So for example
create a ReadableNumber class :

Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 08:03That's not a hexadecimal, it's the scientific notation as evaluated by the toString()
method:
Returns the string representation of this
BigDecimal
, using scientific notation if an exponent is needed.
The E
letter denotes the exponent of the number.
In general if you want to format a decimal number, you can use java.text.DecimalFormat
.
