Is there additional configuration to differentiate between job-artifacts and pipeline-artifacts and storing them in on-prem S3-compatible object storage?
In my test repo, the "build" stage builds a sparse R package. When I was using local in-gitlab job artifacts, it succeeds and moves on to the "test" and "deploy" stages, no problems. (And that works with S3-stored cache, though that configuration is solely within gitlab-runner
.) Now that I've configured minio as a local S3-compatible object storage for artifacts, though, it fails.

The trick is able to work because the use of 'endpoint'
causes the 'region'
to be ignored. With that, setting the region to something and forcing the endpoint allows it to work:

During a planned downtime for our Kafka cluster, we basically encountered the following issue How to specify timeout for sending message to RabbitMQ using Spring Cloud Stream? (with Kafka rather than RabbitMQ, obviously).

The channel
sendTimeout
only applies if the channel itself can block, e.g. aQueueChannel
with a bounded queue that is currently full; the caller will block until either space becomes available in the queue, or the timeout occurs.In this case, the block is downstream of the channel so the sendTimeout is irrelevant (in any case, it's a DirectChannel which can't block anyway, the subscribed handler is called directly on the calling thread).
The actual blocking you are seeing is most likely in the
socket.write()
in the rabbitmq client, which does not have a timeout and is not interruptible; there is nothing that can be done by the calling thread to "time out" the write.The only possible solution I am aware of is to force close the rabbit connection by calling
resetConnection()
on the connection factory.

to set arbitrary properties on the message handler.
In newer versions of the handler, the timeout is always configured to be at least as much as ProducerConfig.DELIVERY_TIMEOUT_MS_CONFIG

I am using sem_wait()
as part of an IPC application, but I want the
wait to be interruptible by ctrl-C, and to continue the program if
this happens. Currently, however, any signal terminates my program.
The sem_wait
man page says "the sem_wait()
function is interruptible
by the delivery of a signal." So I am hoping to reach the line marked

when I press ctrl-C or otherwise send this
process a signal. But as it stands, I do not: the program just
terminates with the usual signum-dependent message.
I presumably have to change the signal handler somehow, but how? I tried defining void handler(int){}
and registering it with signal(SIGINT, handler)
. That prevents termination of course but it doesn’t magically make sem_wait()
interruptible—presumably there’s something different I should be doing during registration, or in the handler itself.
I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and macOS 10.13.6 if this makes any difference.

I am currently working on a PCI driver for the Xilinx Kintex 7 board using the Xilinx PCI IP core (AXI Memory Mapped to PCIe). One problem is, that the interrupt handler stops working when I reload the kernel module. In more detail:
- Fresh boot of my machine
- Load the kernel module and monitor the kernel messages with
dmesg
/proc/interrupts
shows the expected interrupt ids- I trigger the HW interrupt and everything works as expected; I can see the interrupt handler working.
rmmod my_module
/proc/interrupts
removed the interrupt ids as expectedinsmod my_module
and trigger interrupt- Now the interrupt handler is silent and
/proc/interrupts
does not increase the counter
I reboot my machine and everything works again. The fact that I do not have to restart the FPGA lets me assume that I do something wrong in the kernel module and its probably not an HW problem.
I've already used /sys/pci/devices/.../reset
, /sys/bus/pci/devices/.../remove
and /sys/bus/pci/rescan
to try to reach a state which is equivalent to freshly booted machine. But nothing worked.

Each task has state, which includes the state of the CPU and the state of various variables the OS uses to keep track of things (e.g. which task is currently running). The switch()
function switches from one task's state to another; but it doesn't do this atomically. If an IRQ occurred while switch()
is in the middle of switching from one task to another then the IRQ handler would see inconsistent state (e.g. the "which task is currently running" variable not matching the current virtual address space) which can/will lead to subtle bugs that are extremely difficult to reproduce (because you have to get the timing exactly right for the problem to happen) and extremely hard to find and fix.
Note that operating systems that support multiple CPUs can't rely on "IRQs disabled" to prevent reentrancy problems (e.g. disabling IRQs on one CPU won't prevent another CPU from calling sched()
while it's already running). For this; XV6 (which does support multiple CPUs) uses a lock (the ptable.lock
).

- one task causes

to be set to 1 - a task switch happens
- another task causes

to decremented to zero
From a task's perspective:
- the task causes

Both of these perspectives need to be compatible. For example, if one task causes ncli
to be set to 2, then (after task switches) decrements ncli
twice; then "from that task's perspective" it would be fine, but "from CPU's perspective" it would break (a different task would only decrement ncli
once resulting in IRQs being disabled when they shouldn't be).
In other words, ncli
must always be the same value. The value 1 was probably chosen because it's "good enough" for the majority of callers and using a higher value would add unnecessary overhead.

) that I know is to periodically yield to the message loop so it can check if there are any new messages. For example this web worker calculates the sum of the integers from 0 to data
, but if you send it a new message while the calculation is in progress it will cancel the calculation and start a new one.
