            GLUT: How to Make Sphere with radius greater than 1?
            Asked 2021-Jun-12 at 14:38

            I am trying to make a solar system using OpenGL for project. As I have other planets and moons too, I want to make my sun larger than radius=1, and my earth=1 since a little less than 0.18, the sphere is barely visible, and moons cannot be drawn with proper size difference.

            Below is my code, if I try to make a sphere with radius > 1, it becomes donut (torus) like. Can anyone guide me on how to make spheres using gluSphere of radius > 1?

            Answered 2021-Jun-12 at 14:38

            The sphere is clipped by the near and far plane of the viewing volume (Orthographic projection). Use glOrtho instead of gluOrtho2D and increase the distance to the near and far plane:

            gluOrtho2D(-5.0, 5.0, -5.0, 5.0);

            Vertically scrollable code with RStudio and xaringan
            Asked 2021-Jun-11 at 20:06

            I am currently preparing html slides for an R modelling workshop, for which I use the awesome xaringan package for R. It is based on remark.js. Compared to ioslides and slidy, it does much better suit my expectations. I am absolutely excited! One feature that I missed, are scrollable "long slides". Here I leave of course the "slides" paradigm towards a mix between slides and ordinary web pages, but I find this didactically attractive to explain complex content and code. This style worked well with slidy, and I found also some hints how to enable scrollable code in xaringan.

            Here I use the following CSS (found in a related post at SO):

            Answered 2021-Jun-11 at 20:06

            remark.js was not made with scrollable slides in mind, which means that it is not possible to implement scrolling without a major feature addition to remark.js or breaking certain remark.js features.

            If you are willing to break some features, the easiest way I can think of to hack in scrollable slides is by altering the y-overflow of the .remark-slide-scaler class. All we have to do is add the following CSS:

            Query to Find Adjacent Records in Access 2016
            Asked 2021-Jun-11 at 08:36

            I have a table with a field called Result that contains values that can be anywhere between 1 and 100.

            The table also contains a Date/Time field and is sorted from oldest to newest.

            I want to be able to return adjacent records that have a Result of less than 3.

            So, I need to first find a record with a Result that is less than 3 then check if the next records also have a Result of less than 3. If they do these records should be returned.

            There may be no such adjacent records or there may be multiple records that meet this criteria.

            Is this possible?

            I've put together a short piece of code that loops the original data, ordered by the date field, and if it finds a result of less than 3, checks the following results until one of them is 3 or more. It adds all of the ID fields to a string, which can then be used as the SQL for a query.

            You could try sending it as HTML with a class. From there you can pre-code the CSS which should automatically apply to it. :\

            This could be helpful for that.

            Having separate arrays for each tab(comedy and horror) worked for me, so you just create a second array and duplicate the javascript functions, using more specific JS selectors.

            Javascript for a dynamic PDF stamp dialog box not working
            Asked 2021-May-27 at 02:34

            I have been trying to create a dynamic PDF-XChange stamp with 4 dynamic text fields (Text1, Text2, Text3 and Text4) on the stamp that the user can edit in a dialog before the stamp is placed. What I want is for the user to select the stamp and the dialog popup to open with 4 user input fields:

            1. RMA Status - user to add the status (named RMAS)
            2. A free text field for the user to enter anything (named FREE)
            3. The user's name and business team, pulled from the user's Identity info (named TEAM)
            4. Today's date, editable incase they are stamping something after the fact (named DATE)

            I had it working where it popped up a dialog box 4 times asking the user each question in a row, but a single dialog box with 4 text fields is what has been requested. I just can't seem to work out how my code below needs to change to work, but I'm very new to this.

            Currently it only opens the last of the questions (date), unpopulated by my JavaScript date code just before dialog activation, none of the other questions. If I remove the date element, it asks the question before it (name and business unit), but it won't show a dialog with all 4 questions pre-populated using the data processed at the end of the code, which has been tested separately and is working.

            My code is commented below. If anyone can help me to get the dialog to open with the 4 text fields pre-populated I would love to see where I went wrong. And if you can help me get it adding the data to the stamp's Text1 to Text4 boxes I'd be over the moon!

            This in no way a complete answer. I assume you don't want to map/create classes for each "sub class", e.g. Barbarian, Wizard etc. You could perhaps use JsonConverter. The example only handles the first "anonymous" range of objects. Maybe you'll find some of this useful.

            Asked 2021-May-25 at 19:52

            I am quite new to python. One of the problems I've been having is using sys.stdin.readline(). I've written the code out like this con = sys.stdin.readline(). After doing this I put a if statement to look at that new data. After doing this no matter what I type the output is the exact same. Here is the code that I am using:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-May-25 at 19:21

            sys.stdin.readline() returns the string "no\n"

            Using the python interpreter interactively and testing sys.stdin.readline() == 'no' will return False.

            You may try instead if "no" in sys.stdin.readline():

            The problem is you are loooking for the EXACT string "no". So even if using input() you may have problems if the user adds spaces or types "No","No!", "NO" etc.

            So you would have to normalize your string first.

            if "no" in sys.stdin.readline().strip().lower():

            could be a first simple approximation.

            BTW. you can use underscores like next_ or _next if your variable name clashes with keywords.
