CSS: how to organize two columns in a way that one column overlays above the other?

I would like to have a page split in two columns, one of which should overlay over the other one. I haven't been able to do this, so I ask you guys for help. Please ignore the messy svg code, it was copied from inkscape because I wanted to have some clickable elements inside it.

The first/left column (test column) only appears if there is a list to iterate, otherwise it's hidden. The problem with the flexbox solution I have used in the script below is that the second column is offset when the first column appears. I would like it to just appear "above" the page in the area around the black square, without moving any other elements. How would I be able to achieve that?

I need to join to the same table repeatedly but this looks ugly. Any suggestions appreciated. Below is simplified SQL, I have 8 tables in the subquery and it produces many duplicate records of the same date, so I need to find only the newest record for each client. (I don't think DB and/or version should matter, but I am using DB2 11.1 LUW)

Hey everybody really scratching my head trying to figure out what is wrong with my code, it does not return any errors it just seems to skip over the calculating portion and prints the error message I included to indicate wrong user input, even though my user inputs are valid.

I've tried moving the if and defining statements about the variables around to see if that would work.

I know the variables are defined first above the calculate function and again in the function, the reason I have it this way is because otherwise I would get an error that they were undefined unless they came first above everything else.

How to stop collection triggering code when scrolling back in to view swift

I'm pretty new so apologies if my title doesn't phrase things correctly. I've been hacking away and haven't been able to find an answer to this problem.

I have a horizontally scrolling collection. I'm trying to visually show poll results programatically adding CGRect to the relevant item in the collection based on voting data held in a Firestore array.

This is working, but the problem is when you scroll away (so the item in the collection is off screen) and then back, the code to draw the CGRects gets triggered again and more graphics get added to the view. Is there a way to delete these CGRects when the user scrolls an item collection off screen so when the user scrolls the item back into view, code is triggered again it doesn't create duplicates?
