QUESTION
I'm trying to use a library called 'jquery.instagramFeed' that allows me to display images from a user's feed without using an access token. So, I've been trying to use it, but, for some reason, it's not showing me anything.
I've been researching for some weeks now, and I've tried A LOT of solutions proposed in many posts here (and in other forums as well), like these ones:
TypeError: $ is not a function when calling jQuery function
"Uncaught TypeError: $ is not a function" with instafeed
Is there still a way to fetch instagram feed without using access token now (06/2016)?
Some of them did work for me, but as soon as I refreshed the page, it disappeared again. And now, I can't make it show again, regardless of what I do.
I've been checking the developer console to see if there was something wrong, and I noticed that there it always showed me this message:

QUESTION
The first function uses dollar ($
) which loops the functions/variables ($slider
, $.instagramFeed
and slick
). At the function end, outside I created another function called $("#instagram-feed-slider .slick-slide > figcaption").each(function(e)
, which is based on @dean-meehan's code from Wrapping css class to Hashtag(#) content & At(@) content.
- I have moved the function to several parts inside the first function, but it does not work;
- I added
$(document).on
to the seconf function, but no effect; - I added different variables with
$(document).on
, but no effect; - I removed
e
fromfunction(e)
and changed from$("#instagram-feed-slider .slick-slide > figcaption")
to$(figcaption")
, no effect.
I tested with Firefox's Console's "Run", the function worked and detected the matches of at and hashtags.
Here is the minimal JavaScript code:
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Dec-22 at 21:16.slick-slide
is a class that gets added by Slick on initialization of the carousel. So, $("#instagram-feed-slider .slick-slide > figcaption")
is returning an empty jQuery object. I'd recommend removing that class from the selector (i.e. $("#instagram-feed-slider figcaption")
, or move that code block inside the init
handler for slick.
QUESTION
What I want: I am creating a blog using Laravel 7 for my client. He wants to add a section containing a link to his Instagram posts by something similar to a carousel, so that, when he posts a new Instagram post the website will be automatically updated.
What I did:
- I went to developers.facebook.com, created a new app and setup Instagram Basic Display where I got Instagram App Id, Secret and Name.
- Added Client OAuth Settings to be for localhost, it forced me to add ssl (https) I know this won't work, I will change it to the actual domain later, and I hope for a way to test that on localhost too. .
- I added the Instagram tester and authorized it and generated an access token.
- I installed
composer require dymantic/laravel-instagram-feed
from github-repo - I ran the command
php artisan vendor:publish
which showed me these options

Answered 2020-Oct-15 at 18:20If what you want to achieve is to embed your Ig feed images into a carousel I'd recommend you to use postaddic/instragram
package (https://github.com/postaddictme/instagram-php-scraper).
With this package you can easily fetch the URL of the image like so:
QUESTION
I am creating a website for a friend which includes some of his latest instagram posts within a slideshow. I have included left and right cursors for the user to slide from image to image, but I am having trouble achieving my end goal - when the user clicks on the right arrow, it will slide the images and continue regardless of how many times he clicks it. There are about 8 images to be included. The same should apply when I click on the left cursor.
The slider is not responding as it should. Based on the current code, when I click on the right arrow, it brings up the next image until it reaches the last one. Then I click on the right arrow twice, the first time nothing happens, the second time it loops back and brings up the second image in the array, not the first
...ANSWER
Answered 2017-Sep-26 at 10:53You need to make sure that your comparison is greater than or equal to
using >=
instead of just a greater than
(>
).
Your counter was going higher than 3 because it didn't count 3
as a reason to reset the counter (since your code says counter must be greater than
the length, which is 3). This is why it carried on instead of resetting.
QUESTION
I have a issue that I want to solve but do not fully understand on how to approach it and wondering if anybody on here knows a way at all.
In my WordPress theme I have a script.js file located in a JS Folder which has a script for loading an Instagram feed on page load.
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Apr-14 at 11:19Not sure if I understand correctly what you need but you might check the template where it loads the script.js file (using a wp_enqueue_script
function) and add another call to wp_localize_script
function using the same handler name and pass it an array of variables to be available for the javascript.
Example:

I have a jquery code like this:
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Jan-17 at 15:59Just access them in jQuery using the name attribute of the form fields.
Assuming each option keyname is the same as the form field name of course.
By using brackets []
and then the attribute name and optionally an attribute value you can target specific elements with specific values.

QUESTION
I find it quite hard to explain, but I have made a demo here:
http://plnkr.co/edit/X0X4RAFjnUX7LzBL1R6p?p=preview
Basically I have 2 columns that are side-by-side. When the page gets smaller, the columns go under each other. One of the columns has a slider plugin where the image change. The wrapper has a relative position so it changes size. The images inside use an absolute position for the slider to work.
Under those images I want 3 separate images that always stay under. Unfortunately, I can only get them to appear either on the main image, or under the layer (not positioned below).
Here's the entire code:
...ANSWER
Answered 2019-Feb-17 at 02:56Since the height of the images change when the browser is resized, you can take an existing image or transparent image with the same "homepage-main-img" class so that the scale is the same on browser resize.
I also removed the position:relative from your id test div.
Change your HTML to be the following in the HTML block. JS and CSS remains untouched. Just added for the snippit to work.
QUESTION
Until recently there were several ways to retrieve Instagram user media without the need for API authentication. But apparently, the website stopped all of them.
Some of the old methods:
And some old related questions are:
How can I get a user's media from Instagram without authenticating as a user?
Is there still a way to fetch instagram feed without using access token now (06/2016)?
I was able to retrieve the first twenty items by crawling the webpage of the user, but this is not a good or standard method especially when Instagram is not supporting it officially.
I was wondering If you know any method that currently works?
...ANSWER
Answered 2019-May-05 at 10:00Unfortunately, Instagram stopped many of its APIs, including the private ones. It states in https://www.instagram.com/developer/:
To continuously improve Instagram users' privacy and security, we are accelerating the deprecation of Instagram API Platform, making the following changes effective immediately.
Some links explaining the details and causes of these changes:
Some unofficial crawling methods have been proposed in (suggested by @Louis B.) https://stackoverflow.com/a/49906525/278840. You should take into consideration that these methods are being transformed each week. Therefore, I definitely prefer to use the private API.
Update:
The old public API (without auth) is working again. We can access by adding ?__a=1
to the end of a profile url, like this:
QUESTION
i've been trying to add a menu to my WP Dashboard which i already accomplished. But now i want to show this menu to the Editor role as well as the administrator.
Here is my code
...ANSWER
Answered 2018-Jun-19 at 18:42While I can't attest to why read
isn't working - generally if you want to limit something by user roles, you can put in the slug for the role. If you read the source for add_menu_page()
it will actually run the capability through current_user_can
which accepts a role slug as well.
I would replace read
with editor
and see what that gets you. It will also work for admins since it propagates down the list and administrators
all have the editor
, contributor
, etc. "capabilities".
Edit: It appears you have the Instagram Feed plugin installed which will be conflicting with your custom plugin. The code from that plugin shows the sb-instagram-feed
page belongs to that plugin:
QUESTION
I've taken over a website that has to be live by tomorrow, however there's a fault somewhere preventing links from being clicked in the social media footer. It's a custom theme job and I don't have access to the original developers.
The Developer Tools view shows that the links are being passed back from the function alright, but I cannot seem to find where the error lies.

Install instagram-feed
PHP requires the Visual C runtime (CRT). The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 is suitable for all these PHP versions, see visualstudio.microsoft.com. You MUST download the x86 CRT for PHP x86 builds and the x64 CRT for PHP x64 builds. The CRT installer supports the /quiet and /norestart command-line switches, so you can also script it.
