I need to have a global variable which tells me what device I am currently using, my team wants me to have mobile, tablet, desktop and mobile landscape. I didn't have any idea how to do that, but I started digging in google and found out this function:

You could use a hook. Previously I have been using this to access the screen dimensions:

How to use typescript modules in Node.js
            Asked 2021-Jan-13 at 10:11

It can seem banal for you but hopelessly I couldn't use one Typescript module (device-detector-js) in my Node.js project.

Now, Please know that I searched the web "How to use typescript modules in Node.js", all I find is "Building a Node.js App with TypeScript"; I think this is different, isn't it ?

Now, back to my case, installing device-detector-js then putting import DeviceDetector = require("device-detector-js"); yields this error:

SyntaxError: Cannot use import statement outside a module

            ...

That's not a "TypeScript module", it's an npm package.

If your code is using CommonJS module format, then you can import a package with the syntax const DeviceDetector = require("device-detector-js").

If it's using EcmaScript module format (ESM), so not in your case, you can import with import * as DeviceDetector from "device-detector-js".

The syntax you are trying isn't valid in either case.

See here about how to tell Node that your code is using EcmaScript module format, if you wish to do that.

            QUESTION

Websockets - whenever a message is sent from Node WS server, it causes all React clients to refresh
            Asked 2020-Aug-18 at 16:39

I've been struggling with this for way too long now. I have a Node server with websockets sending and receiving messages to and from React clients. But for some reason, whenever a websocket message is sent from Node, it causes all the React clients to refresh their top level component. So if someone is in the middle of something on a client, it messes them up. I don't even know how to tell if this is an issue with my Node code or my React code or both.

The React code is huge and a rabbit hole I don't want to go down if I don't have to. So I'm going to post the websocket code from my Node server in hopes someone can find something there. You can let me know if you need to see some React code too. But I'm hoping it's simply a Node WS issue.

Every time you receive new data ws.onmessage is called which in turn calls setData which changes the state, if useGlobalWebSocketContext is used in the top level component, then it's normal that this component will re-render

            Install devicedetector

You can download it from GitHub.
PHP requires the Visual C runtime (CRT). The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 is suitable for all these PHP versions, see visualstudio.microsoft.com. You MUST download the x86 CRT for PHP x86 builds and the x64 CRT for PHP x64 builds. The CRT installer supports the /quiet and /norestart command-line switches, so you can also script it.
