There's an unresolved issue in Tensorflow on this problem. According to the issue, you need to pass inputs of both outer model and inner model to get the output of inner model.

I am currently using a model from tf.keras.applications for training. And a data augmentation layer along with it. Wierdly, after I import the model from applications, the augmentation layer does not work. The augmentation layer does work before I import it. What is going on?

Also, this has only started happening recently after the new version of TF 2.8.0 was released. Before it was working all fine.

TensorFlow BinaryCrossentropy loss quickly reaches NaN
            Asked 2022-Mar-09 at 04:11

TL;DR - ML model loss, when retrained with new data, reaches NaN quickly. All of the "standard" solutions don't work.

            Hello,

Recently, I (successfully) trained a CNN/dense-layered model to be able to classify spectrograms (image representations of audio.) I wanted to try training this model again with new data and made sure that it was the correct dimensions, etc.

However, for some reason, the BinaryCrossentropy loss function steadily declines until around 1.000 and suddenly becomes "NaN" within the first epoch. I have tried lowering the learning rate to 1e-8, am using ReLu throughout and sigmoid for the last layer, but nothing seems to be working. Even simplifying the network to only dense layers, this problem still happens. While I have manually normalized my data, I am pretty confident I did it right so that all of my data falls between [0, 1]. There might be a hole here, but I think that is unlikely.

I attached my code for the model architecture here:

Remove all kernel_regularizers, BatchNormalization and dropout layer from Convolution layers which are not required.
Keep kernel_regularizers and Dropout only in Dense layers in your model definition as well as change the number of kernels in Conv2d layer.

and try again training your model using below code:

            Answered 2022-Mar-02 at 15:57

You cannot feed the output of the VGG16 model to the vit_model, since both models expect the input shape (224, 224, 3) or some shape that you defined. The problem is that the VGG16 model has the output shape (8, 8, 512). You could try upsampling / reshaping / resizing the output to fit the expected shape, but I would not recommend it. Instead, just feed the same input to both models and concatenate their results afterwards. Here is a working example:

How Can I Increase My CNN Model's Accuracy
            Asked 2022-Feb-12 at 00:10

I built a cnn model that classifies facial moods as happy , sad, energetic and neutral faces. I used Vgg16 pre-trained model and freezed all layers. After 50 epoch of training my model's test accuracy is 0.65 validatation loss is about 0.8 .

My train data folder has 16000(4x4000) , validation data folder has 2000(4x500) and Test data folder has 4000(4x1000) rgb images.

1)What is your suggestion to increase the model accuracy?

2)I have tried to do some prediction with my model , predicted class is always same. What can cause the problem?

What I Have Tried So Far ?

            1. Add dropout layer (0.5)
            2. Add Dense (256, relu) before last layer
            3. Shuff the train and validation datas.
            4. Decrease the learning rate to 1e-5

But I could not the increase validation and test accuracy.

Well a few things. For training set you say you have 16,0000 images. However with a batch size of 32 and steps_per_epoch= 100 then for any given epoch you are only training on 3,200 images. Similarly you have 2000 validation images, but with a batch size of 32 and validation_steps = 5 you are only validating on 5 X 32 = 160 images. Now Vgg is an OK model but I don't use it because it is very large which increases the training time significantly and there are other models out there for transfer learning that are smaller and even more accurate. I suggest you try using EfficientNetB3. Use the code

            Install imagenet

You can download it from GitHub.
You can use imagenet like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
