When querying Kentico 8 blog posts from an external (desktop) application, I get an exception:

[ObjectQueryBase.Object]: Object type 'cms.licensekey' not found.

There were several bugs fixed in v8.1 and v8.2 related to blogs and licensing so I'd suggest hotfixing to the latest hotfix of v8.x to help mitigate any of the issues you are having.

Go to the DevNet and search in the Fixed bugs for v8 for "Blog" and you will see the problems.

            Vulnerabilities

BlogHelper stores common_db.inc under the web root with insufficient access control, which allows remote attackers to download the database file containing user credentials via a direct request.

            Install BlogHelper

You can download it from GitHub.
You can use BlogHelper like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
