How to package shared code for Ansible modules
            Asked 2019-Sep-25 at 08:48

I had to write a few Ansible modules that all share code so I tried being clever and packaged them with setuptools.

            Here is the setup.py

Here is one of the modules

The installed executable uses pkg_resources.load_entry_point and if I run it manually from CLI I can feed it JSON like this.

            ...

I've not taken this approach before. What we did instead was to group libraries into logical groups and bundle them under Ansible role. The roles are published on internal GitHub, and referenced using Galaxy. The library will be made available to the entire playbook after "first run" of the role. So you just have to include the role before running any other task and the libraries will be available.

            Install siptrack

This shortly describes using the client against an existing siptrackd API backend at localhost:9242 without ssl. That means it's alive and you can try another command.
