QUESTION
I'm currently using Tensorboard using the below callback as outlined by this SO post as shown below.
...ANSWER
Answered 2019-Jul-20 at 08:57In your imports you are mixing keras
and tf.keras
, which are NOT compatible with each other, as you get weird errors like these.
So a simple solution is to choose keras
or tf.keras
, and make all imports from that package, and never mix it with the other.
QUESTION
Im trying to import the latest rc2 version of Tensorflow (2.2.0rc2 at this date) in Google Colab, but cant do it when installed from my setup.py install script.
When i install Tensorflow manually using !pip install tensorflow==2.2.0rc2
from a Colab cell, everything is ok and im able to import Tensorflow.
The next is how i have my dependencies installation setup in Google Colab:
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Mar-30 at 18:31I found a work around, but this is not the solution to this problem by far, so this will not be accepted as solution, but will help people in same trouble to keep going with their work:
Install your requirements manually before installing your custom package, in my case, this is pip install -r "/content/deep-deblurring/requirements.txt"

QUESTION
Edit: For anyone interested. I made it slight better. I used L2 regularizer=0.0001, I added two more dense layers with 3 and 5 nodes with no activation functions. Added doupout=0.1 for the 2nd and 3rd GRU layers.Reduced batch size to 1000 and also set loss function to mae
Important note: I discovered that my TEST dataframe wwas extremely small compared to the train one and that is the main Reason it gave me very bad results.
I have a GRU model which has 12 features as inputs and I'm trying to predict output power. I really do not understand though whether I choose
- 1 layer or 5 layers
- 50 neurons or 512 neuron
- 10 epochs with a small batch size or 100 eopochs with a large batch size
- Different optimizers and activation functions
- Dropput and L2 regurlarization
- Adding more dense layer.
- Increasing and Decreasing learning rate
My results are always the same and doesn't make any sense, my loss and val_loss loss is very steep in first 2 epochs and then for the rest it becomes constant with small fluctuations in val_loss
Here is my code and a figure of losses, and my dataframes if needed:

...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Mar-09 at 20:25I think the units of GRU are very high there. Too many GRU units might cause vanishing gradient problem. For starting, I would choose 30 to 50 units of GRU. Also, a bit higher learning rate e. g. 0.001.
If the dataset is publicly available can you please give me the link so that I can experiment on that and inform you.
QUESTION
So I build a GRU model and I'm comparing 3 different datasets on the same model. I was just running the first dataset and set the number of epochs to 25, but I have noticed that my validation loss is increasing just after the 6th epoch, doesn't that indicate overfitting, am I doing something wrong?
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Mar-07 at 07:59LSTMs(and also GRUs in spite of their lighter construction) are notorious for easily overfitting.
Reduce the number of units(the output size) in each of the layers(32(layer1)-64(layer2); you could also eliminate the last layer altogether.
The second of all, you are using the activation 'sigmoid
', but your loss function + metric is mse
.
Ensure that your problem is either a regression
or a classification
one. If it is indeed a regression, then the activation function should be 'linear
' at the last step. If it is a classification one, you should change your loss_function to binary_crossentropy
and your metric to 'accuracy
'.
Therefore, the plot displayed is just misleading for the moment. If you modify like I suggested and you still get such a train-val loss plot, then we can state for sure that you have an overfitting case.
QUESTION
I'm training a classifier to get a factor for an optimization. My data-set contains 800 samples as beginning (some are similar with just few modification).
I developed my model with TensorFlow using GoogleColab environment.
I have used a simple MLP for this problem, with 3 hidden layers each one has 256 nodes as first stage. I have also 64 classes .
I have variable length inputs and I had fixed this problem with "-1" padding.
with my actual features I know that I will get bad accuracy, but I did not expect zero accuracy and the very big loss.
This was my data-set after omitting some features that I have noticed that influence negatively the accuracy :
...ANSWER
Answered 2019-Apr-30 at 15:55there are quite a few points you need to take care of
you should remove the tf summary file before the start of each training, as the global step will restart from 0 according to your code
your loss function is
softmax_cross_entropy_with_logits_v2
, to use this you may need to encode your label in onehot, and try to minimize logit layer close to that onehot label with internal softmax function in this function. If you want to keep current ground truth label, please check sparse_softmax_cross_entropy_with_logits. The usages are similar but some of them need to be onehot label. Check detailed explaination here
QUESTION
I'm trying to run a simple Keras script and use Google Colab with TensorBoard. Here's my code:
...ANSWER
Answered 2018-Nov-24 at 13:31This is caused by conflicting versions of Keras. Tensorboardcolab uses the full keras library while you import the tf.keras implementation of the Keras API. So when you fit the model you end up using two different versions of keras.
