            How to get token from API with Python?

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-12 at 17:16

            First note that a token must be obtained from the server ! A token is required to make some API calls due to security concerns. There are usually at least two types of tokens:

            • Access token: You use it to make API calls (as in the Authorization header above). But this token usually expires after a short period of time.
            • Refresh token: Use this token to refresh the access token after it has expired.

            You should use requests-oauthlib in addition with requests.
            https://pypi.org/project/requests-oauthlib/
            But first, read the available token acquisition workflows:
            https://requests-oauthlib.readthedocs.io/en/latest/oauth2_workflow.html#available-workflows
            and choose the right workflow that suits your purposes. (The most frequently used is Web App workflow)
            Then, implement the workflow in your code to obtain the token. Once a valid token is obtained you can use it to make various API calls.

            As a side note: be sure to refresh token if required.

            All these links basically say:
            Python threads cannot take advantage of many physical cores. This is due to an internal implementation detail called the GIL (global interpreter lock) and if we want to utilize multiple physical cores of the CPU we must use true parallel multiprocessing module

            https://docs.python.org/3/library/math.html

            The math module consists mostly of thin wrappers around the platform C math library functions.

            While python itself can only execute a single instruction at a time, a low level c function that is called by python does not have this limitation.
            So it's not python that is using multiple cores but your system's well optimized math library that is wrapped by python's math module.

            That basically answers both your questions.

            Regarding the usefulness of multiprocessing: It is still useful for those cases, where you're trying to parallelize pure python code or code that does not call libraries that already use multiple cores. However, it comes with inter process communication (IPC) overhead that may or may not be larger than the performance gain that you get from using multiple cores. Tuning IPC is therefore often crucial for multiprocessing in python.

            This is an error in Arelle, which shows up for Python 3.6 and later. There is a pull request for it , but that is still open (since July 2017). Given that Python 3.6 has been out for quite a while, I don't know why this hasn't been fixed.

            You are using the lxml branch, which has been stale for 10 years. So perhaps this error has actually been fixed (even if the pull request is still open) on the master brach, but not on the lxml branch. Try installing from master first, if that is an option for you.

            How to have unlimited FPS and still control the FPS of your program in Pygame?
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 21:42

            I did some research and found this: Setting a fixed FPS in Pygame, Python 3 and this: pygame clock.tick() vs framerate in game main loop. It is similar to what I am asking.

            So the clock.tick(FPS) caps the program to run at that FPS. The reason you do this is so you can control the FPS of the program and it makes it easier for time stuff like waits.

            But how can I unlimited FPS and still control my FPS for time stuff like waits? From my understanding, this is not possible, due to the fact that clock.tick(FPS) caps the FPS and while not adding it in means unlimited FPS but you not being able to control the FPS.

            So it seems to be a question of weather to cap you FPS for control or have your program run as fast as possible, but without control.

            In conclusion, what I am asking is four questions;

            1. Pros and cons of capping your FPS
            2. Pros and cons of not capping your FPS and going on with the natural FPS of your program
            3. Is it possible to have unlimited FPS and still control my FPS for time stuff like waits?
            4. If so, how?

            You have to calculate the movement per frame depending on the frame rate.

            pygame.time.Clock.tick returns the number of milliseconds since the last call. When you call it in the application loop, this is the number of milliseconds that have passed since the last frame. When you call it without a parameter (framerate=0), the FPS are unlimited.

            Define the distance in pixels that the player should move per second (move_per_second). Then compute the distance per frame in the application loop:

            You will have to vendor the dependency. The easiest way to do that is to include the dependency inside your python package, not outside.

            setuptools requires you to include a MANIFEST.in file to include non-package, non-python files in your distribution.

            See this project for an example of how to do that.

            Your project structure should look something like this:

            Using answer of @Charles Duffy you can make older versions run on M1s. However Python versions before 3.8 will NOT be officially supported on M1 because they were not in bug-fix phase when M1 chips were released. It is stated clearly here as:

            ">Are there plans to backport PR 22855 to any branches older than 3.9?

            The plan is to also support 3.8 on Big Sur and Apple Silicon as 3.8 is still in bugfix mode. There are no plans to backport support to 3.7 and 3.6 which are in the security-fix-only phase of their release cycles."

            in this python bug tracker.

            So I don't think there is any way to get them working on M1 unless someone tweaks python on their own.

            Looking for a tool that extracts data from a plot figure ( here 2D contours from Covariance matrix or Markov chains) and reproduce the original figure
            Asked 2021-Jun-12 at 23:37

            I am looking for an application or a tool which is able for example to extract data from a 2D contour plot like below :

            I have seen https://dash-gallery.plotly.host/Portal/ tool or https://plotly.com/dash/ , https://automeris.io/ , but I have test them and this is difficult to extract data (here actually, the data are covariance matrices with ellipses, but I would like to extend it if possible to Markov chains).

            If someone could know if there are more efficient tools, mostly from this kind of 2D plot. I am also opened to commercial applications. I am on MacOS 11.3.

            Answered 2021-Jun-12 at 23:37

            Restating the problem - My understanding given the different comments and your updates is the following:

            • someone other than you is in possession of data, which as it happens is 2D data, i.e. an Nx2 matrix;
            • using the covariance matrix, they are effectively saying something about the joint distribution of these two dimensions, specifically about the variance;
            • if they assume a Gaussian distribution, as is implied by your comment regarding 68%, 95% and 99.7% for 1sigma, 2sigma and 3sigma, they can draw ellipses which represent the 2D-normal distribution: these are in fact some of the contour lines associated with the 3D "bell" surface;
            • you have obtained the contour lines in a graph and are trying to obtain the covariance matrix (not the original data...);
            • you are concerned about the complexity of having to extract the information from each ellipsis.

            Partial answer:

            • It is impossible to recover the original data, I hope you are already aware of that, but in case you are not let's just note that the covariance matrix is a summary statistic of the data, much like the average, and although it says something about the data many different datasets could happen to have the same summary statistic (the same way many different sets of numbers can give you an average of 10).
            • It is possible to somewhat recover the covariance matrix, i.e. the 3 numbers a, b and c in the matrix [a,b;b,c], though the error in doing so will likely be large because of how imprecise the pixel representation is. Essentially, you will be looking for the dimensions of the two axes, for the variances, as well as the angle of one of the axes, for the covariance.
            • Unless I am mistaken, under the Gaussian assumption above, you only need to measure this for one of the three ellipses, and then factor by whatever number of sigmas that contour represents. Here you might want to either use the best-defined ellipse, or attempt to use the largest one, which will provide the maximum precision for your measurements (cf. pixelization).
            • Also, the problem of finding the axes and angle for the ellipse need not be as complex as what it seems like in your first trials: instead of trying to find the contour of the ellipses, find the bounding rectangle.
            • In order to further simplify this process, if your images are color-coded the way you show, then a filter on blue pixels might be enough in terms of image processing. Then simply take the minimum and maximum (x,y) coordinates in order to obtain the bounding rectangle.
            • Once the bounding rectangle is obtained, find the equation to your ellipse (that's a question for a math group, but you could start here for example).

            Happy filtering!

            Vulnerabilities

            An issue was discovered in urllib2 in Python 2.x through 2.7.16 and urllib in Python 3.x through 3.7.3. CRLF injection is possible if the attacker controls a url parameter, as demonstrated by the first argument to urllib.request.urlopen with \r\n (specifically in the query string after a ? character) followed by an HTTP header or a Redis command. This is fixed in: v2.7.17, v2.7.17rc1, v2.7.18, v2.7.18rc1; v3.5.10, v3.5.10rc1, v3.5.8, v3.5.8rc1, v3.5.8rc2, v3.5.9; v3.6.10, v3.6.10rc1, v3.6.11, v3.6.11rc1, v3.6.12, v3.6.9, v3.6.9rc1; v3.7.4, v3.7.4rc1, v3.7.4rc2, v3.7.5, v3.7.5rc1, v3.7.6, v3.7.6rc1, v3.7.7, v3.7.7rc1, v3.7.8, v3.7.8rc1, v3.7.9.
            CVE-2019-9948 CRITICAL
            urllib in Python 2.x through 2.7.16 supports the local_file: scheme, which makes it easier for remote attackers to bypass protection mechanisms that blacklist file: URIs, as demonstrated by triggering a urllib.urlopen('local_file:///etc/passwd') call.

            Install -Python-

            You can download it from GitHub.
            You can use -Python- like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
