            QUESTION

What is meant by required-api: param name=”#target” in config.xml file of AGL widgets?
            Asked 2020-Mar-06 at 09:53

I am trying to understand various available AGL specific options that we can give in config.xml and I am referring to the link below

            https://docs.automotivelinux.org/docs/en/halibut/apis_services/reference/af-main/2.2-config.xml.html

This is the sample config.xml file

I figured out why we need this

            required-api: param name="#target"

            OPTIONAL(not compulsory)

It declares the name of the unit(in question it is main) requiring the listed apis. Only one instance of the param “#target” is allowed. When there is not instance of this param, it behave as if the target main was specified.

            Install babik

You can download it from GitHub.
On a UNIX-like operating system, using your system’s package manager is easiest. However, the packaged Ruby version may not be the newest one. There is also an installer for Windows. Managers help you to switch between multiple Ruby versions on your system. Installers can be used to install a specific or multiple Ruby versions. Please refer ruby-lang.org for more information.

            Support

MariaDB should work as well (happy to solve any reported issues). Babik MSSQL support development is stalled by activerecord-sqlserver-adapter Rails 5.2 support issue. As soon as that issue is resolved, I will start working in providing full support to Babik to MSSQL. No plan to offer Oracle support. Accepting contributors to port this library to Oracle. Contributors can make PRs to support other RDBMS.
