Rails 7 ActionCable Unable to Connect
            Asked 2022-Mar-09 at 22:08

I recently upgraded from Rails 6.1.4.6 to 7.0.2.2. With this upgrade I switched from webpacker to import maps with sprockets. My repo didn't include turbolinks or stimulus and I didn't feel like adding them now either. So I re-added UJS and most of my tests pass except the action cable feature tests. It seems I cannot get action cable to connect.

            Any help would be appreciated!

Figured out the problem was because I had two applications.js files. One in app/assets/javascripts/ and another in app/javascript. Sprockets was serving my asset version of application.js due to my manifest pointing there. I adjusted the manifest and deleted the secondary application.js and all is working.

updating to rails 6, but "activerecord-session_store (~> 2.0) was resolved to 2.0.0, which depends on actionpack (>= 5.2.4.1)"

I ran bundle update rails and got this. I'm stumped. If activerecord-session_store 2.0 depends on a version of actionpack between 5.2.4.1 and above, and if actionpack is a dependency of Rails 6, shouldn't this be ok?

Currently Ruby 3.0 is not supported with Rails, as there will be next release for Rails. You can do following and it works by installing dev branch of ruby 3. I used ruby 3.1.0dev (2021-02-14T05:09:08Z master ff527e7e32) [x86_64-darwin19] Following commands are with RVM you can use same with other softwares I tried by installing

Your code example in config looks a bit outdated (for an older rails version).

Try Rails.application.config.session_store in place of AppName::Application.config.session_store

Rails 6 App links not working until refresh
            Asked 2020-Feb-11 at 03:12

I tried to follow this tutorial by GoRails to add EasyAutoComplete to my Rails app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibxlNN73UTY

Although the search bar functions as the GoRails guy demonstrates, I keep seeing this page whenever I click on any link:

If I refresh this page, then it takes me to the user sign in page that I originally clicked on. I don't notice anything out of the ordinary in my Rails server console throughout this process.

I added the css files and the js files for EasyAutoComplete to my Assets pipeline, because I was having a hard time using webpacker correctly.

For jquery, I followed this article to install it: https://www.botreetechnologies.com/blog/introducing-jquery-in-rails-6-using-webpacker and I used this video as reference as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn9arlhfaXc

Going by where the links in the repo you linked navigate to (nowhere #), this is a known issue with turbolinks.

You can add data-turbolinks="false" to the link tags to prevent this type of behavior.
