what I want to do is install wordpress core and plugins at build time, and the reason is obvious I don't want everytime I restart my containers I goes to all steps all over again and install plugins and ... . so I need connection to database but It seems that build time I can't access my mysql container. Answered 2020-Sep-30 at 09:40My guess is that you are unable to connect because the database service started but is not ready. In the docker documentation on depends_on it states this (and I too have had this problem):
depends_on does not wait for db and redis to be “ready” before starting web - only until they have been started. If you need to wait for a service to be ready, see Controlling startup order for more on this problem and strategies for solving it.

In my case I solved it in a very ugly way (have a sleep() for 10 seconds in my python script), but if this is no solution for you, maybe the official strategy documentation found here might help.
[edit] What do you use as the host variable name? When using a network in docker compose, machines should be able to communicate to each other using their container names (i.e. mhndev_systems_mysql in your case). Can you try that?

Answered 2020-Aug-13 at 15:36After re-reading the blog post I mentioned previously I realized my reference in the ln command was wrong. The source file needs to be referenced as /user/path/to/my/folder/ whereas I was referencing it as /home/user/path/to/my/folder/.
After updating the reference accordingly it's now working.

I have a password protected page which I recently was asked by my client to change the password. The password protection is done from the WordPress dashboard by using the Status and visibility option from Page-> PageName -> Edit option and selecting Visibility: Password Protected and editing the password. The previous password had worked fine for many months but once I changed the password, the new password was not accepted. I keep getting the prompt for the password no matter how many times I enter the correct password.
Cache busting or a clue?
Interestingly if I add a cache busting querystring like ?a=0 to the end of the protected page's URL, I am let in! What's up with that? Does the page/WordPress know that I previously entered the correct password?
With WordPress, does the user need to enter the password each time they visit the password protected page or only the first?

The DNS for my site points to a Sucuri server which does caching.
I logged into the Sucuri site and added an exclusion for the WordPress password protected page to the caching setup using the UI. Now the new password works and the page behaves as expected. No cache busting required.
The login page posts to a PHP file which hashes the entered password, stores it in a cookie and sets its expiration date to 10 days in the future so you can visit the password protected page for 10 days until you will be prompted for the password again. This is assuming that you are accessing the page from the same device and browser.

Weirdest problem ever. I use wordpress (last version) for my website and I use WP-bakery page builder. It has worked without problems for years. All my plugins are updated to the latest version, except WP bakery page builder because i'm not paying for it.
Today, i decided to update the website, and I go to the contact page of my website and change 1 word in the page and click "update". The website ends up showing a "timeout" and the website stopped working.

Answered 2020-Jun-03 at 13:10I don't know why it happened, but I discovered that a rule of modsecurity blocked my IP whenever I attempted to update my page... Seems to be a security thing with wordpress to avoid attacks... This shows up in the server log.
To solve it I removed the rule for my website... which may cause some security issues, but who cares about security.
But I don't know where this blocking comes from...

I'm having problem enable caching with WP Super Cache. Currently running Wordpress freshly installed for testing. The only thing I've done is installed WP Super Cache and removed Akismet and Hello Dolly.
The plugin activates, but I can't enable caching in settings. When I reload the settings page it says "Caching Off" again.
For some reason, it also keeps creating copies of wp-cache-config.php in wp-content, and copies of wp-config.php in the webroot. All these copies gets named a random number like 8734852931.php
A message in WP first says it has added
define( 'WP_CACHE', true );
to wp-config.php, but it didn't. When I add it manually (above require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');) i get another message:
Warning! WP Super Cache caching was broken but has been fixed! The script advanced-cache.php could not load wp-cache-phase1.php. The file /home/X/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php has been recreated and WPCACHEHOME fixed in your wp-config.php. Reload to hide this message.
Reloading doesn't hide it and WPCACHEHOME is not put into wp-config.php. If I manually add
define('WPCACHEHOME', '/home/X/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/');
to wp-config.php the message goes away, but cache still wont turn on.
Apache error log says nothing of interest, even on debug level.
I've tried to do it all over again with chmod 777 on the entire webroot with the same results, so I don't think it's permissions. I've also tried different PHP (running 5.6 now) and Wordpress versions. There are people running exactly the same server setup as me, who has WP Super Cache running on their sites.
Anyone with an idea on what might be the issue here?

I have a WordPress site (v5.2.3), and every now and again (possibly monthly) the wp-config.php and .htaccess files are over written with bad information.
This results in two problems - first the DB access details in wp-config are changed to something don't work, and then the ability to access my post-link permalinks are lost as a result of information being lost from htaccess.
After being overwritten, my wp-config file is full of lines like this:

Suggest you start by googling what to do in such a case, there’s plenty of resources out there that cover the basics.
Ideally, you should probably delete all core WP and plugin folders, and upload the files again from a “clean” system (to avoid that other files that might have been inserted into your system can still be reached by the attacker from the outside.)
