Create PNG icons from SVG with overlay text using imagemagick
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 18:44

I'm trying to use imagemagick to generate PNG images from an SVG for use in a PWA. I'm having trouble working out which image is used when by the PWA. To debug this I'd like to annotate each generated PNG image with an index so I can tell which image the PWA uses in several different scenarios.

Below is an example of the command I'm using to create a 128x128 maskable PNG (10% margin) with white background from a source SVG.

You can do that in one command line in ImageMagick 7 as follows. Assume the lena image is the result of your command. So I add the following just before the output:

Change the colour of a specific area of a picture onclick
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 18:27

I am a beginner learning from a tutorial on how to change the colour of a selected area of a picture with a range of colour options.

I can figure out how to change one area, but unsure how to implement the other areas.

What I want to achieve is to click on the selected area, it highlights the border (CSS), then change the colour by using the colour options.

What is the best way to implement this? I'm I correct in thinking maybe a switch statement with onclick to select the specific area of the picture?

You could try having a "select" function run when you click on one of the areas. This function would "highlight" the area (border-color), and save the id of the area in a variable.

Then when you click on the color swatches another function would run that will take the value previously saved id and select the HTML element based on that.

I've never used gstreamer, but I do sometimes use libvlc which is probably very similar. When using libvlc to render into a wxWindow, I need to wait until the wxWindow is fully created before I can set vlc to use it. This is done by adding an event handler for the window creation event.

The process of declaring and binding the event handler looks like this:

CSS :after or :before reading dynamic values from HTML. No JS. Pure CSS
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 00:43

Hello and thank you for reading this.

First off, I have to say that I can't use JavaScript. I am not aloud to any code that needs 'upkeep' because we run hundreds of sites for hundreds of clients in-house clients. Any code that needs maintenance is highly discouraged. I've tried to push back and it's not working. I don't have the power.

With that said, I have a client that would like to have icons to represent topics and when you roll over the icon, there is an overlay over said icon with the text saying what the topic is.

For example, if there is the topic 'Fruit' there would be a photo representation of a fruit (say, a banana). When the mouse rolls over the banana pic, an overlay would appear with the word fruit in the middle.

This isn't about the overlay or the icon.

What I would like to know is if I can read read the topic name in and have that displayed in the :after pseudo element.

In pretend code, this is what I'm tryin to do:

            Install overlay

As per the current Portage specifications, overlays should be managed via /etc/portage/repos.conf/. To enable this overlay make sure you are using a recent Portage version (at least 2.2.14), and download our .conf file to the apropriate system directory (root access will likely be required):. Afterwards, simply run emerge --sync, and Portage should seamlessly make all our ebuilds available. Some of our packages are available as live (*-9999) ebuilds, and if you wish to use this feature (only advisable if you are well-informed on the day-to-day development of the specific package) these versions can be manually unmasked on a case-by-case basis under /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords.
