Kerberos and yarn nodemanager fail to connecting resourcemanager. Failed to specify server's Kerberos principal name
            Asked 2020-Dec-03 at 07:22

I`m trying to run my cluster with Kerberos. Before hdfs, yarn and spark worked correctly. After setting up kerberos, I can only run hdfs because yarn is going to crush after 15 minutes with an error. I have tried different configurations with no result. Master node do not have any logs about slave node. Nodemanager run just for 15 minutes but do not show on yarn master list.

I do not understand why you can use kinit or hdfs run with no problem, but yarn seems to not connect the resource manager.

            Asked 2020-Jul-20 at 21:34

So this error is a weird one...

I'm using EXE4J 6 to build a .exe file for my JavaFX Application. This has worked with no issues through Java version 13.0.1. I recently upgraded my environment to use Java 14.0.1 and now I get the following stacktrace whenever I try to run my application through exe:

            Answered 2020-Jul-20 at 21:34

I was finally able to determine what the issue was.

I was using Exe4J 6.0 which was not compatible with Java versions 10+. I was surprised that I wasn't getting outright errors when trying to run exe4j to compile my executable, however it seems that exe4j was sucking in an older 1.8 java version from my registry and using a 1.8 jdk that I never cleaned out of my "C:/Program Files/Java" folder. When I deleted all my old JDKs, exe4j started complaining about missing a Java VM (even though 14.0.1 was set on path).

Upgrading to Exe4J 7.0 solved the issue for me.

            Asked 2020-May-05 at 05:14

I am currently experimenting with Apache Spark. Everything seems to be working fine in that all the various components are up and running (i.e. HDFS, Spark, Yarn, etc). There do not appear to be any errors during the startup of any of these. I am running this in a Vagrant VM and Spark/HDFS/Yarn are dockerized.

How to properly configure HDFS high availability using Zookeeper?
            Asked 2020-Apr-14 at 15:11

I'm a student of big data. I'm coming to you today for a question about the high availability of HDFS using Zookeeper. I am aware that there has already been bcp of topic dealing with this subject, I have read a lot of them already. It's already been 15 days that I've been browsing the forums without finding what I'm looking for (maybe I'm not looking in the right place too ;-) )

I have followed the procedure three times here: https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/current/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-hdfs/HDFSHighAvailabilityWithQJM.html.

I may have done everything right, but when I kill one of my namenodes, none of them take over.

My architecture is as follows: - 5 VM - VM 1,3 and 5 are namenodes - VMs 1 to 5 are datanodes.

I launched my journalnodes, I started my DFSZKFailoverController, I formatted my first namenode, I copied with -bootstrapStandby the configuration of my first namenode to the 2 others and I started my cluster.

Despite all this and no obvious problems in the ZKFC and namenode logs, I can't get a namenode to take over a dying namenode.

Does anyone have any idea how to help me?

Many thanks for your help :)

            1. Yes. Small files is not only a Spark problem. It causes unnecessary load on your NameNode. You should spend more time compacting and uploading larger files than worrying about OOM when processing small files. The fact that your files are less than 64MB / 128MB, then that's a sign you're using Hadoop poorly.

            2. Something like spark.read("hdfs://path").count() would read all the files in the path, then count the rows in the Dataframe

            3. There is no hard-set number. You need to enable JMX monitoring on your jobs and see what the heap size is reaching. Otherwise, arbitrarily double the current memory you're giving the job until it starts not getting OOM. If you start approaching more than 8GB, then you need to consider reading less data in each job by adding more parallelization.

FWIW, Kafka Connect can also be used to output partitioned HDFS/S3 paths.

I am tying to create an RDD using the code but unable to do it. Is there any solution to this issue. I have tried to run it with the localhost:port details. I have also tried running it with the entire path of the HDFS:/user/training/intel/NYSE.csv. Any path i am using is being serached only on the local directory but not on hdfs. Thanks

            ANSWER

            Answered 2020-Feb-11 at 14:32

This happens due to internal mapping between directories. First go to the directory where your file (NYSE.csv) is kept. run command :

            df -k

You will get the actual mount point of the directory. For example: /xyz

Now, try finding your file(NYSE.csv) within this mount point. For example: /xyz/training/intel/NYSE.csv and use this path in your code.

The symptom is: the host machine has proper network access, but programs running within containers can't resolve DNS names (which may appear to be "can't access the network" before investigating more).

A brutal and unsafe solution is to avoid containerization of the network, and use the same network on the host and on the container. This is unsafe because this gives access to all the network resources of the host to the container, but if you do not need this isolation this may be acceptable.

To do so, just add --network host to the command-line, e.g.
