How to detect window resize in Linux
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 21:19

I'm working on a TUI (Text User Interface) library for C++, and I have a function for detecting the size of the console window. Is it possible for me to detect a window resize? I would prefer if it would work with any terminal emulator, but if it matters I am using Ubuntu Budgie 20.10, and my terminal emulator is Tilix.

You can set up a signal handler for the SIGWINCH signal, and you will get this signal whenever the terminal size changes. Note that, as with all signal handlers, any code in the signal handler must be signal-safe.

If you are using the curses library, you will get a KEY_RESIZE key, and then check COLS and LINES.

On Windows, the software that runs the Android Emulator is called "qemu-system-x86_64.exe".

Try to kill this software. You can use the built-in taskkill utility from within the Command Prompt:

            1. Open the Command Prompt (Type in CMD into the Windows search)
            2. Enter: taskkill /F /IM "qemu-system-x86_64.exe" /T

I just launched the emulator App by double clicking it. It loaded (loading time is 10 to 15 min) with an audio to accept Microsoft licence agreement and login with current Microsoft id. It shows the licence agreement window as shown in below image:

            Hololens Emulator Licence Agreement

I could not click the Accept button. So I could not proceed further. I used alt+mouse drag to bring the hand, but either the hand does not appear or sometimes even if it appears and moves, no raycast to point on the button. I tried toggling the Use mouse, use keyboard for simulation check boxes.

Thanks Hernando - MSFT for helping me. The Accept button in the Licence agreemnet window can be clicked by moving back and forth the hand using W,A,S,D keys.

Previously i thought that i should click using a raycast pointer. It would be nice if i can click using raycast because the current approach is very difficult for any new users.

Additionally, sometimes mouse and keyboard inputs doesn't worked for me. This is because the 'Use Mouse' and 'Use Keyboard' check-boxes under the Simulation Panel is disabled. We have to ensure they are enabled for using mouse and keyboard for simulation inputs.

Angular Fire & Firebase Emulators - Update of document not working

_CastError (type 'Null' is not a subtype of type 'List' in type cast) when having Network Image inside Listview
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 11:07

i have an error that i just dont find a solution for. I created a little messenger thingy in flutter and have a problem when using a NetworkImage inside one of my chat bubbles.

When i send the image as message, it is displayed without problem in the bubble. Also when i send multiple images, it is no problem and they extend beyond the screen and i can just scroll up and down without any problems.

Though when i reopen the room screen and there are multiple images and they extend over the visible screen i get _CastError (type 'Null' is not a subtype of type 'List' in type cast) from network_image dart file. BUT this only happens after a hot restart. If i just navigate back and then reopen the room screen its also all fine, but as soon as i hot restarted once i always get the error when trying to open a room, which has images extending the visible space.

Iam still kinda new to flutter, so i know my code sucks mostly but this time i just dont even find a "dirty" way to solve it.

            Flutter 2.2.0 (beta channel)
Dart 2.13.0 On Android Emulator Pixel 4a API 30

Edit 1: i removed a lot to make it easier to read.

Edit 2: i found it to be somehow connected to using the downloadURL from Firebase Storage. When i replace the url with just some test png url it doesnt seem to be a problem.

            Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 11:07

Ok, i kind of found the problem. I took the Firebase servertimestamp as variable for the filename in the Firebase Storage. That of course only resulted in the filename being

            FieldValue(Instance of 'MethodChannelFieldValue')

Though i dont really understand why that was a problem, but now with a normal Datetime toString timestamp it all works perfectly fine. Maybe its some special character escaping in the generated downloadURL from Firebase Storage with this kind of filename.

6502 assembly: carry result in 16bit subtraction
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 07:44

I have recovered an old 6502 emulator I did years ago to implement some new features. During testing I discovered something wrong, surely due to an error in my implementation.
I have to loop through a 16 bit subtraction until the result is negative: quite simple, no? Here is an example:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-May-25 at 12:22

loop through a 16 bit subtraction until the result is negative

"Branch" to Label if result is >0,

Do you see that these descriptions contradict each other?
The 1st one continues on 0, the 2nd one stops on 0.
Only you can decide which one is correct!

            From a comment:

This code is part of a Bin to Ascii conversion, made by power of ten subtraction. The bin value could be >$8000, so it is 'negative' but this does not matter. In the first iteration I sub 10000 each cycle until the result is 'below 0', then I restore the previous value and continue with the remainder. The problem is how to detect the 'below 0' condition as said in the post

Do ... Loop While GE 0

Next example subtracts 10000 ($2710) from the unsigned word stored at zero page address $90. The low byte is at $90, the high byte is at $91 (little endian).

While DOSBox emulates a 32-bit CPU, DOS itself runs in 16-bit real mode, without tools like DOS4gw, used in some DOS Games, such as Doom.

I think the -f win32 command line option is to blame for this error.

Short Summary: This app works on a physical android phone. However, when we try to make it work on the emulator, Google Sign In does not work. Please see the details below:

            Details:

            1. We have created a Flutter app to share information to our internal team.

            2. Pre Google Play Store Update: At the start, we connected Firebase to the app. Added the debug SHA 1 key to Firebase. Google Sign-In works as expected in both the emulator and phone.

            3. Post Google Play Store release: a. List item

              a. We deleted the debug SHA1 from Firebase and changed the SHA1 key to the key which Google Play store gives us.

              b. Downloaded the new google-services.json from Firebase and added it to our androip/app folder. The Google Sign in Works on the Phone but does not work via the Emulator. We get the following error:

            I/flutter (24658): PlatformException(network_error,com.google.android.gms.common.api.ApiException: 7: , null, null)

We re-added the Debug SHA1, and Debug SHA256 keys to Firebase. Still, Google Sign in does not work on the Emulator. But works properly in the Phone.

            1. Checked about 7 previous StackOverflow response, but most responses are for PlatformException(sign_in_failed...) or other reasons, but not for PlatformException(network_error...) . examples of solutions tried:

Google sign in failed com.google.android.gms.common.api.ApiException: 10:

              Generate SHA-1 for Flutter/React-Native/Android-Native app

            2. Internet permissions is enabled in the AndroidManifest.xml

Please let us know if any code is to be shared to analyse the issue better and we will share it.

            Thank you in advance.

You are probably now building a release version to install on the emulator in Android Studio, but you don't have the release sha-1 shared with Firebase. Add all three sha-1 to Firebase: Debug and Release sha-1 from Android Studio, and sha-1 from the Play Store. Then download and install the new google-services.json from Firebase and add it to your android/app folder. Then clean and rebuild your app. All versions of your app should then work with Firebase and Google sign in.

You don't need external routing plugin, GetX already did that for you, and if you want to navigate, just use Get.toNamed("/some-page") and it will show you the page you wanted. Same goes to nested route.
