How to make an axios get request on page load, then render a am4chart with that data?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 22:40

I have the wackiest bug. Like....the wackiest! If any of ya'll want to put eyes on this, awesomesauce! I really appriciate it! I am creating a survey with REACT, Redux, SQL, HML, Material-ui, and CSS.

I've created a graph of information with am4charts using data from a database. Everything is working and will show up on the page......but not on page load. What I am seeing in my console is that the page will load, it fires off my get request but doesn't return with the data fast enough (I think). By the time that the get request loads, my graph has populated with no data.

Here is the code that I have for the page that I am rendering. What is really odd is that, once my code has run, I can cut a line of code (I've been using a console log). And then the graph will render and load.

Beautfiul Soup HTML parsing returning empty list when scraping YouTube
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 20:43

I'm trying to use BS4 to parse through the HTML for an about page on a youtube channel so I can scrape the number of channel views. Below is the code to scrape the channel views (located in the 'yt-formatted-string') and also the whole right column of the page. Both lines of code return either an empty list and a "None" value for the findAll() and find() functions, respectively.

I read another thread saying I may be receiving an empty list or "None" value because the page is accessing an API to get the total channel views to count and the values aren't actually in the HTML I'm parsing.

I know I could access much of this info through the Youtube API, but I want to iterate this code over multiple channels that are not my own. Moreover, I want to understand how to use BS4 to its full extent so I can replicate this process on an Instagram page or Facebook page.

Should I be using a different library that isn't BS4? Is what I'm looking to accomplish even possible?

YouTube is loaded dynamically, therefore urlib won't support it. However, the data is available in JSON format on the website. You can convert this data to a Python dictionary (dict) using the built-in json library.

This example is using the URL you have provided: https://www.youtube.com/c/Rozziofficial/about, you can change the channel name, it will work for all channels.

Here's an example using requests, you can use urlib instead:

            filtering multiple arrays ngrx
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 19:53

I have a store setup that has multiple arrays

I'm trying to search all arrays at once, via a textfield.

I can get this done, by calling a selector function on keyup, that filters the 4 arrays and pushes to a new array.

I've thought about merging all the arrays to one array before filtering, but I want to keep the results separate, as they are going to be displayed in categories.

Just trying to see if I can streamline the performance at all and if there's a more concise way of doing this, in case I need to do something similar with larger arrays.

This should implement the selector function with less code and make it more adaptable to kinds of data, if needed you can specify a more precise type in the filter function.

react-pdf: use PDFDownloadLink asynchronously without blocking the rest of the application
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 13:58

I'm using PDFDownloadLink from the react-pdf package to generate a PDF on the fly in my application and allow the user to download a report based on data being passed to the component that generates the PDF document. However, there are more than 400 pages that need to be rendered in this PDF, and this operation blocks the main thread for a few seconds. Is there any way to make this operation asynchronous, so the rest of the application will continue to function while the PDF is being generated? Also I would like to be able to cache the results, since the data being passed to the component can come from about 8 different arrays of data, which don't change very much, so switching between these arrays I would rather not to have to render the PDF all over again if the PDF for that given array has already been generated once before... I'm guessing the blob data needs to be stored somewhere, perhaps localStorage?

I finally found the answer to this in an issue on github which addresses this exact problem:

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. It is an improvement. At the moment, if you use 'PDFDownloadLink' the PDF is being generated as the component loads.

Describe the solution you'd like It is not mandatory, but having multiple heavy PDFs ready to be downloaded wouldn't be the best approach since not every user will need it.

Describe alternatives you've considered I've used pdf() function to generate the blob and file-saver lib to download it:

Get location path from use Location hook inside a column renderer from react-bootstrap-table2
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 07:08
            Story

I'm creating 2 pages (Summary and Cycles pages) using react.js.

On the Summary page, there is a column named CN that every item links to the Cycles page.

Summary page has a path /route/summary/location=abc and Cycles page has a path /route/cycle/location=abc/deviceId=4410

For example, if I click the value from CN column in the first row of the table inside the Summary page, I will be redirected to the Cycles page with the path /route/cycle/location=abc/deviceId=4410.

In the Summary page, I use https://github.com/react-bootstrap-table/react-bootstrap-table2 for the table component and I use a columnRenderer function inside columns.js to render a custom item inside the table like this one:

            Question

How can I put the pathname (example "abc") to a Link component inside cnColumnRenderer function in columns.js?

            Ideal Condition I wanted:

Summary page with the path: /route/summary/location=abc

Cycles page with the path: /route/cycle/location=abc/deviceId=4410

            Actual Condition:

Error because of invalid hook call while rendering the Summary page

            My Code:

table code inside Summary page (inside Summary.js):

hint: focus on columns variable from './columns' and its implementation

            ...

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 05:17

React hooks are only valid in React functional components, not in any callbacks, loops, conditional blocks. If you need the location data in the callback it needs to be passed in.

From what I can tell it seems you need to move the columns.js code into the main component so the location values can be closed over in scope.

I have created a render of a 3D network initially created in Networkx, however now that I have this render I would ultimately like to export it as a single .stl file. From the code below, how would I be able to combine the glyph, tubes, ball into one file. If it is not possible to export to .stl, .vtk would be fine too as it could be converted in Paraview.

            ANSWER

VTK has Exporter classes that you can see here: https://vtk.org/doc/nightly/html/classvtkExporter.html

Of those, I'd say OBJ is the closest to STL. You could export your scene to OBJ and then use MeshLab to convert that OBJ to STL. VRML would work too.
