            I have put some push notifications in my code, in order to someone to be notified when an action is made. I made the back end with lib.net.webpush 3.1.0 with .net 4.5.2 in C#. So far, the notification system is working very well, but there is something I can't succeed : Within my service worker file (sw.js), using Angular 9, i want, when someone received the notification, that when a user click on it, he is redirect to the page from which it was sent.

            I just succeed in doing it. So, for anyone in the same case as I was : within the service worker, you can't access the DOM, i wasn't able to get any ID or any path I was trying to aim in my code. The solution was to, in my C# code, to add a "URL" property and parameter to my "SendNotification" funtion. Then, when i got a user, i can target his ID because it's already here. Then, in my Angular code (within the service worker file), I just had to to this (i am storing my url in "data" here) :

            The problem was not related to PowerPC architecture. I needed to pass the fatbin file to the host-side compilation command with -Xclang -fcuda-include-gpubinary -Xclang axpy.fatbin to replicate the whole compilation behavior.

            i developed a MS Access desktop database app a decade ago that im attempting to rebuild using node, electron and mysql now that im a recovering windows user.

            ive started by recreating the simplest form in the app after importing the necessary parts of the db: https://imgur.com/a/oRfcsXw.

            the problem is in the datacontrol's operation (bottom left), specifically when using the new record button (">+"). while it sometimes properly increments the record number ("336" in the screen shot), other times it does not. when it sticks, continuing to add records eventually makes it suddenly catch up before it eventually sticks again. debugging indicates the cause being that rows.length in newRecord() is not being reported correctly.

            it seems safe to assume this is related to my frustratingly inexplicable inability to fully comprehend asynchronous execution, callbacks, promises and async/await, despite being moderately intelligent and banging my head against countless articles on the subject over the past four days. i guess i just need to see an example of how to do it as it applies to my situation before im able to better grasp the concept. so feel free to ignore the great many flaws in this noobie's code below, some of which he is aware, and im sure a great many of which he is not, and just focus on how i might get an accurate rows.length.

            Processing Shared Work Queue Using CUDA Atomic Operations and Grid Synchronization

            I’m trying to write a kernel whose threads iteratively process items in a work queue. My understanding is that I should be able to do this by using atomic operations to manipulate the work queue (i.e., grab work items from the queue and insert new work items into the queue), and using grid synchronization via cooperative groups to ensure all threads are at the same iteration (I ensure the number of thread blocks doesn’t exceed the device capacity for the kernel). However, sometimes I observe that work items are skipped or processed multiple times during an iteration.

            The following code is a working example to show this. In this example, an array with the size of input_len is created, which holds work items 0 to input_len - 1. The processWorkItems kernel processes these items for max_iter iterations. Each work item can put itself and its previous and next work items in the work queue, but marked array is used to ensure that during an iteration, each work item is added to the work queue at most once. What should happen in the end is that the sum of values in histogram be equal to input_len * max_iter, and no value in histogram be greater than 1. But I observe that occasionally both of these criteria are violated in the output, which implies that I’m not getting atomic operations and/or proper synchronization. I would appreciate it if someone could point out the flaws in my reasoning and/or implementation. My OS is Ubuntu 18.04, CUDA version is 10.1, and I’ve run experiments on P100, V100, and RTX 2080 Ti GPUs, and observed similar behavior.

            You may wish to read how to do a cooperative grid kernel launch in the programming gude or study any of the cuda sample codes (e.g. reductionMultiBlockCG, and there are others) that use a grid sync.

            You're doing it incorrectly. You cannot launch a cooperative grid with ordinary <<<...>>> launch syntax. Because of that, there is no reason to assume that the grid.sync() in your kernel is working correctly.

            It's easy to see the grid sync is not working in your code by running it under cuda-memcheck. When you do that the results will get drastically worse.

            One of the things you are trying to do here isn't workable. If you want to have a function decorated with __host__ __device__, first of all you should decorate it the same way everywhere (i.e. also in your header file where you declare it) and such a function won't be directly callable from a .cpp file unless you compile that .cpp file with nvcc and pass -x cu as a compile command line switch, so you may as well just put in in a .cu file from my perspective.

            You're also not doing relocatable device code linking properly, but that is fixable.

            If you want to have a __host__ __device__ function callable from a .cpp file compiled with e.g. g++, then the only suggestion I have is to provide a wrapper for it.

            What is incorrect about my expectations?

            If we ignore managed memory and host-pinned memory (i.e. if we focus on typical host memory, such as what you are using here), it's a fundamental principle in CUDA that device code cannot touch/modify/access host memory (except on Power9 processor platforms). A direct extension of this is that you cannot (with those provisos) pass a reference to a CUDA kernel and expect to do anything useful with it.

            If you really want to pass a variable by reference it will be necessary to use either managed memory or host-pinned memory. These require particular allocators and therefore depend on pointer usage for reference.

            In any event, unless you are on a Power9 platform, there is no way to pass a reference to host-based stack memory to a CUDA kernel and use it, sensibly.

            If you'd like to see sensible usage of memory between host and device, study any of the CUDA sample codes.

            What is the best/better way to set a host variable passed by reference/pointer into a kernel?
