After searching for hours for a solution to Gitlab running behind an Apache Reverse Proxy. To be clear I can connect to the Gitlab Instance and I also can do every basic function like pushing, cloning code, and so on.
My Problem is that every image I post in an Issue always has http://127.0.0.1:8090/.../ as the URL. I tried changing the external_url this always resulted in Gitlab responding with a 502. Any other settings I changed and tried had either no effect or resulted in 500s or 503s. I decided to ask any of you for a hint.

to the URL users use to reach your GitLab server. e.g. gitlab.server.de
according to your Apache config.
Additionally, you'll want to fix the proxy headers to deal with the protocol change if you're not using mutual TLS.
Most importantly, you'll need to explicitly configure GitLab's internal nginx to listen on the port you've specified in your proxy/proxypass config and not use https.

The application is running in single node (we aren't using a load balancer) and is written with CodeIgniter 3 in PHP 8.0 running over the EB platform v3.3.10. Everything appears to be working except whenever I navigate to https://api.mysite.com/socket.io/?EIO=4&transport=websocket I'm getting an Internal Server Error. I am trying an experiment to bring up a Drupal 7 installation in Repo authoritative mode under HHVM 3.21 (which still supported PHP - latest version does not). (May sound crazy, but bear with me here.) Server is Ubuntu 18.04 running apache2 with mod_proxy, mod_proxy_fcgi. I am new to HHVM, so I have probably made an obvious mistake.
I started with an index.php "hello world" to ensure that I had the general configuration working. That works fine, regardless of the contents of /var/www/html/index.php (per https://docs.hhvm.com/hhvm/advanced-usage/repo-authoritative)
I am using
hhvm --hphp -thhbc -o /var/cache/hhvm file_list.txt
to create the repo, which is then chown'ed to www-data. (The same file I copy to /var/www/.hhvm.hhbc, since it seems that the server wants a copy there... this question I will solve later...)
Problem #1: I have left the entire file tree in place in /var/www/html, but mod_rewrite is not working correctly. I can use the site without problems if I use the "unpretty" URLs (?q=admin/config), but not rewritten URLs.
Problem #2: In principle HHVM in repo authoritative mode should be able to serve the entire image from the repo file if only the index.php is in place or if I specify hhvm.server.allowed_files[] = index.php
, but when I try this, the server 404's.
What follows is a ton of relevant info from config files. I am happy to add more information as needed to assist with finding my error/omission, in case I have forgotten anything here. Thank you for reading this far!

I am trying to get a brand new cloud based server working with a default version of 20.04 server ubuntu working with apache and node. The node server appears to be running without issues reporting 4006 port is open. However I believe my apache config is not. The request will hang for a very very long time. No errors are displayed in the node terminal. So the fault must lie in my apache config seeing as we are getting the below apache errors and no JS errors.

I am running Node and Apache on the same server, where node is the backend server, requested by Axios to collect user data from the front end.
I used Apache to request an SSL certificate through certbot
and was successful. I am trying to deploy node backend to access my endpoint

address. You do this by assigning SSL
keys to the node server. Then edit the app.js file to connect to HTTPS
, not HTTP
. The above app.js
connects to HTTP
only. So this needed to be fixed. Finally, edit your reverse proxies in the Apache
virtual hosts to fwd HTTP
to HTTPS
.
In my case, the frontend was secure via HTTPS
SSL
certificates from let's encrypt (certbot
) ie https://website.com
, but the backend was not secure, so when I tried to go to https://websote/endpoint
there was an error.
The reason for this was because the backend app.js
file connected to an HTTP
server when it needed to connect to HTTPS
.
Note: if you have a secure website/app and you make an Axios request to a non-secure HTTP
address then you will get a cors
error stating you need to change HTTP
to HTTPS
. You do this by making the node.js server secure.
1a. Create a separate directory in the node folder to hold the certs. sudo mkdir directory_name
1b. *Copy SSL
certificates from the Apache server to the Node server directory.
