QUESTION
How do i call external java libraries in the bigquery UDF. Is it possible?
Following is my use case: Is it possible to do the lat/long calculations inside standard sql bigquery UDF.
...ANSWER
Answered 2018-Aug-29 at 20:31BigQuery UDFs support JavaScript as the language, not Java, so it is not possible to call an external Java library. You can, however, load external libraries with JavaScript UDFs.
QUESTION
I have to write a program which does the following... take an Startpoint, and then create an overlay-grid with 1x1km rectangles. As first task I wanted to create a grid of points, 1km away from each other.. So i found the JAK library for creating the kml and the geocalc library for creating the points.
My problem is that I've got a file to check my program (this testfile is correct... as far as I know)... but the grid I create differs from the "testgrid"... more specific... in my grid every square is perfect 1x1km (according to 2 internet tools where i checked the distance between the corners) When I check the distance between the testpoints, it is just 950m (as far as I know they are exactly 1km away from each other)

Install geocalc
You can use geocalc like any standard Java library. Please include the the jar files in your classpath. You can also use any IDE and you can run and debug the geocalc component as you would do with any other Java program. Best practice is to use a build tool that supports dependency management such as Maven or Gradle. For Maven installation, please refer maven.apache.org. For Gradle installation, please refer gradle.org .
