How to parse items from a large JSON stream in JavaScript?
            Asked 2020-Oct-31 at 05:25

So I have downloaded the Wikidata JSON dump and it's about 90GB, too large to load into memory. It consists of a simple JSON structure like this:

            Answered 2020-Oct-31 at 05:25

If I understood you correctly you want something like this. I used an ObjectBuilder class that combines all methods to build one JSON object. It uses parentStack to keep track of all objects and arrays. When the object/array is started with startObject/startArray a new JSON object/array is pushed onto the stack. Once this object/array is completed it is popped off of the stack. The last object that is popped off of the stack is the whole item object and can be processed further (in the example below I just print it out).

The current object or array that is currently being constructed is always on top of the stack.

I had to use a subset of the sample you provided because it did not contain a matching number of startObject and endObject items, which resulted into an invalid JSON. I included this subset below the code.

Hopefully, this is what you were looking for :)

(Note, I only wrapped buildItem() function in runSample() function so that I can include the sample JSON at the bottom to make it look neater in this online editor. You can move buildItem() function outside.)

Response streaming in Express does not work in Azure App Service
            Asked 2020-Aug-28 at 09:48

I am trying to stream responses to my client using a NodeJS Express server hosted using Azure App Service. However, I noticed that it is not really streaming but tries to send the response as a whole. When the response size is huge (>50MB), the client gets an Internal Server Error, but the server does not throw an error.

Further, when I run the server inside a Docker (Node Image: 10.22.0-alpine3.9), I see that the client gets the response as a stream even for huge responses. (This is the behavior I actually need)

My web.config file is as follows.

            Answered 2020-Aug-28 at 09:48

Like I described in the latter part of my question, directly piping the res (my response to the client) to dataStream (the data stream I got from the external API) allowed to stream without any issues.

Extending the same behavior, I created a Readable stream which is equivalent to the response I should send to my client. Then I piped it to res and it worked.

            Here is my solution.

Reading large JSON file in Deno
            Asked 2020-May-21 at 06:24

I often find myself reading a large JSON file (usually an array of objects) then manipulating each object and writing back to a new file.

To achieve this in Node (at least the reading the data portion) I usually do something like this using the stream-json module.

            ...

            ANSWER

            Answered 2019-Nov-24 at 23:59

I think that a package like stream-json would be as useful on Deno as it is on NodeJs, so one way to go might surely be to grab the source code of that package and make it work on Deno. (And this answer will be outdated soon, because there are lots of people out there who do such things and it won't take long until someone – maybe you – makes their result public and importable into any Deno script.)

Alternatively, although this doesn't directly answer your question, a common pattern to treat large data sets of Json data is to have files which contain Json objects separated by newlines. (One Json object per line.) For example, Hadoop and Spark, AWS S3 select, and probably many others use this format. If you can get your input data in that format, that might help you to use a lot more tools. Also you could then stream the data with the readString('\n') method in Deno's standard library: https://github.com/denoland/deno_std/blob/master/io/bufio.ts

Has the additional advantage of less dependency on third-party packages. Example code:

By default, users can read their own feeds on the client side.

collection:4 is working because probably token is generated for the user with id 4 and it fails with permission error when that token is used for collection:5.

            node/getstream: user creation fails: client.user(uid).create() => 500
            Asked 2020-Feb-26 at 10:11

            Versions:

            • node: v12.14.0
            • getstream: 4.3.0

I am experimenting with user creation as described in the documentation. However, creating a user client.user(userId).create({type: 'normal'}) always fails with 500. Similar to the Github issue 232.

Error message: {"detail":"","status_code":500,"code":-1,"exception":"InternalServerException","duration":"0.51ms"} with HTTP status code 500

Anyone an idea what may be going wrong?

            Fyi:

            • I am able to create and fetch feed/activities. So, the client works.
            • right now I simply experimenting with some scripts.
            • the userId is a string, not very long (<30 chars), alphanumeric

            Update:

Same error occurs after these attempts:

            • Using latest version 4.4.0
            • Using REST-API/curl as documented. Example command: curl -i -X POST -d '{"id":"bob","data":{"extra":"fields","flag":false}}' -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Stream-Auth-Type: jwt" -H "Authorization: JWT-TOKEN" "https://tokyo-api.stream-io-api.com/api/v1.0/user/?api_key=API-KEY"
The command in the documentation is generated using key/token, but it also changes the URL endpoint to tokyo-api.stream-io-api.com. I also tested this with the domain api.stream-io-api.com, and the opposite, using tokyo-api.stream-io-api.com in the library (overwritten manually) without success.

Why doesn't 'await' wait for axios request completes?
            Asked 2020-Feb-26 at 09:47

I tried to read HTTP response with axios and parse JSON in stream mode with stream-json` so I can fully fit my database on demand. It works well but if I try to close database connection everything will be crashed because the connection will be closed too soon. The problem is: await doesn't wait for the extract_coins function to complete (even if it's returning the promise) and close database connection in a final scope.

            Answered 2020-Feb-26 at 09:47

As the code related to the asynchronous pipeline is not promisified, you currently have no way to return a promise that resolves on getting the "end" event.

Your await does wait for the promise to resolve, but your then callback returns undefined, and so that resolves the promise at that very moment, long before the end event is broadcast.

            So change this:

AWS Lambda & Node: Write data while streaming - ends prematurely and data is missing
            Asked 2019-Aug-08 at 21:18

I've got a Lambda function that is triggered by a write to an S3 bucket. It reads the JSON file that is written to the bucket, parses out the individual records, and writes them to a database.

Problem is; I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, because the stream ends and the Lambda exits before all the data is written.

I'm in "flowing mode" on my readable stream, and I'm pausing/resuming during the db write. According to the docs, this should do the trick, but it's not working as expected.

The question boils down to having a readable stream through network and processing it on run time.

I don't think this is going to work, and, finally you have to download the file only, and process as local file.

There are ways to get the file from network:
