QUESTION
Currently, google dataproc does not have spark 3.2.0 as an image. The latest available is 3.1.2. I want to use the pandas on pyspark functionality that spark has released with 3.2.0.
I am doing the following steps to use spark 3.2.0
- Created an environment 'pyspark' locally with pyspark 3.2.0 in it
- Exported the environment yaml with
conda env export > environment.yaml
- Created a dataproc cluster with this environment.yaml. The cluster gets created correctly and the environment is available on master and all the workers
- I then change environment variables.
export SPARK_HOME=/opt/conda/miniconda3/envs/pyspark/lib/python3.9/site-packages/pyspark
(to point to pyspark 3.2.0),export SPARK_CONF_DIR=/usr/lib/spark/conf
(to use dataproc's config file) and,export PYSPARK_PYTHON=/opt/conda/miniconda3/envs/pyspark/bin/python
(to make the environment packages available)
Now if I try to run the pyspark shell I get:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-15 at 07:17One can achieve this by:

/usr/lib/spark/conf/spark-env.sh

QUESTION
Im trying to start a project on play in IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate MacBook Pro on M1, I get the following error in the console:
[error] java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /Users/username/Library/Caches/JNA/temp/jna2878211531869408345.tmp: dlopen(/Users/username/Library/Caches/JNA/temp/jna2878211531869408345.tmp, 0x0001): tried: '/Users/username/Library/Caches/JNA/temp/jna2878211531869408345.tmp' (fat file, but missing compatible architecture (have 'i386,x86_64', need 'arm64e')), '/usr/lib/jna2878211531869408345.tmp' (no such file)
I tried to reinstall the JDK on the arm architecture after deleting all the JDKs, it did not help
What needs to be tricked to fix this?

Answered 2022-Feb-25 at 04:58Found a solution: Inside sbt 1.4.6 there is a JNA library version 5.5.0, which apparently does not have the necessary files for the arm64 architecture processor Raising the sbt version to 1.6.2 helped

QUESTION
I am requesting an API using the python requests library:
My python script is run once a day by the scheduler, Once the python script gets run, I am getting this error and the PID of the python script is getting killed showing OOM. I am not getting whether it's a DNS issue or an OOM (Out of memory) issue as the process is getting killed.
Previously script was running fine.
Any clues/help will be highly appreciable.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Sep-27 at 10:41I found the issue, in my case it was not DNS issue. The issue is related to the OOM(Out of memory) of the ec2 instance which is killing the process of a python script due to which the "Instance reachability check failed" and I was getting "Failed to establish a new connection: [Errno -3] Temporary failure in name resolution".
After upgrading ec2 instance, the instance reachability didn't fail and able to run python script containing api.
https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/system-reachability-check/
The instance status check failure indicates an issue with the reachability of the instance. This issue occurs due to operating system-level errors such as the following:
Failure to boot the operating system Failure to mount the volumes correctly Exhausted CPU and memory- This is happening in our case. Kernel panic
QUESTION
I'm trying to package a pyspark job with PEX to be run on google cloud dataproc, but I'm getting a Permission Denied
error.
I've packaged my third party and local dependencies into env.pex
and an entrypoint that uses those dependencies into main.py
. I then gsutil cp
those two files up to gs://
and run the script below.
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-20 at 21:57You can always run a PEX file using a compatible interpreter. So instead of specifying a program of ./env.pex
you could try python env.pex
. That does not require env.pex
to be executable.
QUESTION

- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Hadoop 3.2
- Spark 3.1
I am testing to run a very simple script on dataproc pyspark cluster:

...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-19 at 21:26The error is expected when running Spark in YARN cluster mode but the job doesn't create Spark context. See the source code of ApplicationMaster.scala.
To avoid this error, you need to create a SparkContext or SparkSession, e.g.:
