QUESTION
I am trying to make a page responsive but, I am not able to make an image responsive as it is getting off the grid container in material UI. Is there a way I can make the image responsive? I am trying to add the image in Grid container, Still, it is showing the same.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 16:47In your image tag, you are setting the height and width to 50vh. Viewport units (vh or vw) will cause stuff to overflow out of containers if it sees fit. In your case, everything is working as intended, the image is taking up 50% of the viewport height (637/2 = 319px). It's going to overflow out of the grid container if it needs to in order to meet those dimensions.
You should likely have the image itself have width: 100% height: 100%, or width: 100% height: auto and control the size of the image via the container (like you're already doing).
Hope this helped, let me know if you have questions.
QUESTION
When navigating from Composable A -> Composable B, say Composable A is a Lazy List scrolled halfway down and Composable B is a Lazy List Item Details Screen. Currently, the lazy list scroll position isn't stored, and when navigating back to Composable A from B, the list starts from item index 0. We could store it in a ViewModel, and read the value back, as well as use rememberSaveable, however, I am unsure as to how to implement rememberSaveable so that it scrolls to the saved position after back navigation.
Which method would be preferred to use following good code practices?
Edit: My problem arises from the fact that the listState isn't stored when navigating back from composable B to A. So if we scroll to the bottom and select an item and look at its details, when we navigate back to the list it is scrolled to the top, instead of saving its scrollState.
My composable
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 14:10I'm leaving this question up in case anyone else ever gets stuck in my situation, but the code works as it is meant to, I just committed a folly.
I didn't account for height changes with asynchronous image loading and as such, the list would not be at its saved position upon composable navigation, due to the list state being smaller than the screen height on returning to the composable.
However, If the images were given static containers to load into to that don't change their size, then upon back navigation, the composable would correctly display the saved list state.
QUESTION
I read through the Bootstrap 5 docs about typography and the files _variables.scss
and _reboot.scss
. I find that there is a SASS variable $font-family-sans-serif
to set the font stack for sans serif text, but no corresponding $font-family-serif
for serif text.
FWIW: It used to be present in _variables.scss
for Bootstrap 3, but seems to missing from Bootstrap 4 as well.
Do I just declare it myself in my _variables_custom.css
or is there a canonical way to do it?
Why was it omitted from the standard Bootstrap 5 set of varaibles?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 09:29Bootstrap (in its SCSS source format) is a framework - a stating point if you will - so it's expected that you add your own variables & elements and/or modify the existing ones. There is no $font-family-serif
because its just not required for that core code.
As to how to customise - start with https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/customize/sass
Why was it omitted? - Refactoring. Removing "dead code" (obsolete variables, parameters, fields, methods and/or class') is a very common "code cleaning" practice. A serif font is just not used, so it got deleted. (Not even in BS3 was it "used". It was declared, but not referenced in anything except the customizer.)
But that's the beauty of frameworks - you can just add/delete/change it yourself. :)
QUESTION
I cannot seem to see what is going wrong here, pretty basic usage to useContext and useState hooks. I have a darkModeContext where I am literally just flipping the boolean for darkMode, but whilst trying to flip it for the context I am getting setContext is not a function.
I took some code out from the navDrawer to make it easier to see but here is the error I am getting along with the code:
DarkThemeContext.js
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 19:51You have different keys in DarkThemeContext
and in NavDrawer
when you initialize the values, i.e. darkTheme
vs darkMode
.
Rename in NavDrawer
should resolve the error.
QUESTION
When using ConstraintLayout in a LazyColumn a simple Text does not appear when we simply scroll up and down. Changing the Item from a ConstraintLayout to a Row fixes the issue thus I conclude either my code is bugged or ConstraintLayout alpha has a bug.
You can see in the Layout inspector picture the Text is supposed to display a -6.40 euro
edit: I also posted it on the android bug tracker as I wasn't sure if it was my problem or a bug https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/188855913 - Will close this soon most probably

QUESTION
I have a react app that has a NavBar and a grid system. This NavBar shows some information and has buttons to run the application and the grid system contains the functions and visualizes the application. I want to have the NavBar button click trigger a function to call in the grid system component, specifically the animateAlgorithm function. As you can see, I already have a provider that shares some state information between these two components. What I don't understand is how to make it call the function.

App.js
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-11 at 18:53What you need to do is use the useImperativeHandle
, so you can access the function from outside of your component.
First, call useRef
to create a reference and pass it to your GridContainer
as prop, we will handle the ref
later inside the component using fowardRef
. Then, you need to wrap the animateAlgorithm
inside a handler function and use it as props in NavBar
so you call it when the button is clicked.
