I'm not getting my code from index.html when extending base.html (django)

            Typo.

In the base.html, you've named the block "content". In index.html, you've called it "contend".

It would be nice if Django threw an error when this sort of thing happens - but I think the main reason it doesn't is for adaptability. At a glance it seem you're doing everything else correctly though.

How can I make a two-column layout with drop-caps responsive without scrollbars?
            Asked 2021-Jun-10 at 21:23

I am learning the basics of html and css, and am trying to build my own blog from scratch, coding it all from the ground up, because that's the only way I'll really learn. I want it to be responsive to different screen widths, so I am using the bootstrap grid, but building my own custom components because the bootstrap ones seem a bit too cookie-cutter. Specifically, what I am having a hard time with is a single DIV element at the top of the page, where I want to contain my most recent blog post. It contains a floated image, and two columns of text. I have placed everything within rows in the grid, and what I am expecting is this: When someone begins minimizing the screen, or when a smaller device is used to view the site, I want the words to just realign to whatever screen size they have, and I do not want the scrollbars to appear. Is there a way this can be done. I have included the code below, (all of it), but the relevant DIV is posted first there at the top, and a picture of what it looks like at full screen size, and also one where the window is reduced in size.

            Full size:

            Resized screen:

Here is the DIV, and the relevant CSS. Just in case I don't understand what might be relevant, the entire code is at the very bottom. Thank you for any time taken to help me. There are problems with positioning at the top, too, but I think I can figure that out, or I'll have to make that another question. Thanks again.

Good for you for trying to code a project like this from scratch! That's how I learn best too.

You're getting scrollbars because you're setting the height of the div in your #fbPost instead of letting it be determined by the content, and then you also set overflow: auto, which tells the browser to show a scrollbar if the content of a container overflows the container, and to hide the scrollbar if it doesn't. You can read more about that here

Also, as a best practice, an id is meant to be unique. So there should only be one thing in your html with id="fbPost", you shouldn't put that on each of your sections. It's better to use classes like your ourCard class to style multiple elements.

In terms of how to make the content two columns, you can just use the column-count css property.

            I also recommend looking into and learning CSS Grid for layouts instead of using floats;

Here's a very basic JSFiddle showing what I'm talking about: https://jsfiddle.net/karlynelson/vd7zq8h4/29/

You can use media queries to make it go down to one column of text at a certain point, or use fancy css grid min-max and auto-fill to do it automatically.

The body and html height shouldn't be 100%. It looks like that is issue causing the sticky nav to only stick for part of the page. I added a border and some extra space to demonstrate how your sticky div alternates between position: relative and position: fixed depending on the scroll position in the body:

Newbie to coding- why isn't my code passing the W3 validator?
            Asked 2021-Apr-23 at 21:07

I have to use codepen to write up a website and then get my code to pass the W3 validator. The problem is that, whichever way I try to check the code, it comes up with different error messages.

When I copy and paste the whole code into W3, it says that I need and the other things like that (that I'm not allowed to type into codepen, without getting an error message on that end).

However, when I go into debug mode and put the URL directly into W3, it comes up with a load of errors that don't exist- the code it specifies isn't anywhere in my code.

Has anyone else had issues getting codepen validated by w3?

Error #2: Start tag seen without seeing a doctype first. Expected .

You missing the tag. it is not optional. It is required to tell the browser which version of HTML is used.

Error #1: Consider adding a lang attribute to the html start tag to declare the language of this document.

This mean that you should add as 2nd line a tag declaring the language of your website. This is helpful for search engines and screen-readers. As example:

Error #3: Element head is missing a required instance of child element title.

Your section is missing. Also part of the head-section is the </code> tag. There you are required to add a title that is also shown then inside the browser tab at the top.</p>

Also part of the head content are meta data such as search tags. Also your links for external CSS, Scripts or libraries.

Last but not least, codepen is only a webbased site to see the result of soemthing or to share code snippets. Its not for fully programming a website. Its simliar to an IDE. If you want a fully working website then you should use an actual IDE such as Visual Studio Code as example.

I mean: http://www.website.com/ -> only load after a few seconds, doesnt load plugins. http://www.website.com/about-us -> works perfectly

And the title changed to "Failed to execute 'setAttribute' on 'Element': '-left' is not a valid attribute name." and i have the follow erros in Erros in console (edited: adblock errors no longer apeard, new console error:) I have searched a lot but i didn't find any solution.

            What i have already done:

I have created a home.vue file and i pasted all the code from the index.vue file and whene i go to http://www.website.com/home, everything is loading and working fine, so the problem is not from the code in index.vue, i also tried whitout any script or styles in the page and it's not from that too, even if the index.vue only had one tag the problem appear.

You can use align-self: flex-end for the title since body is a flex container. I have also given width auto unit instead of vh since you wanted it to be aligned to the right of the screen. Otherwise, it stays up to the contained width. You may have to adjust the elements for smaller screens using media queries.

The fourth parameter or your font-style() mixin is $line. You haven't skipped over it when you pass in sans as the argument. Instead you've taken what should be the fifth argument and made it the fourth.

The best approach you can take is to use "keyword arguments": https://sass-lang.com/documentation/at-rules/mixin#keyword-arguments

Essentially you need to tell the mixin which argument it is that you're supplying.

Loading Vue component based on (changeable) variable
            Asked 2021-Mar-14 at 18:05

total newbie with Vue.js here, so sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

            I want to load components based on the content of a variable - so if the content of my variable changes, I want the component to change accordingly. I have all components imported (e.g. import Project1 from "@/components/Project1";), which again is saved in components: {'p1': Project1}

I use with goTo.page being defined in data as data() {return {goTo: {page: "p1"}}}. The problem seems to be the reactivness of goTo.page. I update it via this.$set(this.goTo, "page", "p2");. When running, i get the error Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'page' of undefined, which I honestly don't understand, since its initialized with "p1".
