QUESTION
I am building an app following the Rest Countries API challenge from frontendmentor (https://www.frontendmentor.io/challenges/rest-countries-api-with-color-theme-switcher-5cacc469fec04111f7b848ca). I have run into a problem. When clicking on the router link in countryDetail.js, the url changes but the component doesn't get re-rendered unless the page is refreshed.
CountryDetails.js
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 17:07The issue seems to be that you are already on the "/country/:name"
path and are clicking to visit another country. The router correctly updates the URL in the address bar, but because CountryDetail
is already mounted it neglects to recompute the item
and allCountries
state. This is because the useEffect
hook only runs once when the component mounts.
The name
param (match.params.name
) is actually a dependency for the GET requests, it should be added to the useEffect
hook's dependency array.

I'm using fs-extra library to delete some image files on post request in my node js app. every time I call /deleteproduct route everything works fine. my product is removed from database and fs-extra callback doesn't throw any error even though files are not removed! I don't know what is the reason. I think maybe I'm doing something wrong with async/await functions.

QUESTION
I have a project created with NextJS and ReactJS. I've installed Tailwind CSS and used in some components which are located in 'components' folder.
I created one more component in same 'components' folder, named 'Thumbnail.js'. I wanted to use h-2 truncate p-2
in a p tag inside of 'Thumbnail'. They didn't show any effect on the components. And can't even see these class names in Chrome debugger.
In the same 'Thumbnail' component I've used transform hover:scale
and interestingly it worked.

QUESTION
I am already making a restful API using nodejs on the backend, here is my folder structure :
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-10 at 18:26- Why it works on Postman and not on the client code?
The difference is the format of the request. In Postman, you're sending the data as JSON object. While in the client code, you're sending data inside a form-data. They are different. That's why the req.body
is empty. Different request formats require the server to parse in different ways.
I see in your code the line //formData.append("thumbnail", newProject.thumbnail);
is commented, you prepare to send the project's thumbnail in the request. In this case, you cannot send the request in JSON format. You need to modify the server to make it understand the form data.
For this, I recommend this popular package
Multer is a node.js middleware for handling multipart/form-data, which is primarily used for uploading files.

QUESTION
I'd like to have a 2 column reveal.js slide where I can page through the slides in the left-hand column (ColA) while a video plays in the right-hand column (ColB). The slides accompany the video.
I have it laid out on this page but the contents in the iframe/ColA are not large enough to read. I've tried scaling it but it scales the entire containing div, making the two columns overlap, and does not just scale the contents of the iframe.
Another option is to do the slides like normal, where each slide contains a link to the embedded video. My worry there is that every one of the embedded videos will play at once once the page loads because it's a live stream - it seems like that might eat a lot of processing power as my computer tries to play the same embedded live stream in 30 different slides. When moving from Slide1 to Slide2, are embedded videos stopped?
The full git repo for this is here.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 10:32I don't think the iframe will work very well for multiple reasons:
- The scaling problem that you already encountered. iframes are notoriously hard to scale, as the size has to be hardcoded when embedding them.
- The nested presentation will have its own navigation, so it wont be clear where to proceed with the presentation.
You also already anticipated teh next problem - when putting the same video on multiple slides indeed the video will "restart" - first the old video will fade out and then the new copy will fade in. This is because each slide is it's own self-contained HTML element. So this also won't do what you want.
Instead I would propose to use Fragments. Fragments are the way you can have individual elements on a page change without changing the whole slide (commonly used for making bullet points appear).
In your case you can implement your "sub slides" on the left side as individual fragments that appear on top of each other using the css classes fragment fade-in-then-out
(to make them appear/disappear) and r-stack
(to make them appear on top of each other). You can see an example on the "Layout" page in the documentation (the second one with cat pictures).
If you put all of your sub-slides as fragments, then you can just have your video embedded as normal on the right and it will play independently from the subslides changing. Once the last sub-slide is passed, the presentation will move on to the next real slide (stopping the video).
QUESTION
I have an array of object that i got from my API and then displayed them to parent component as table row like so :
Each row has its own edit button where when i click ,it will popup a modal ( not redirecting to another page ) and it will contain some information based on which row i click. Below is the example when i click the forth row which has "Mamang Racing" as the client name.
reviewDetailModal.js
The Problem is , on the children component (modal component) when i about to edit any other rows for some reason it will still show me the latest data ( in this case the forth row ).
Code is shown below :

I am learning Redux Thunk now. I tried to use createAsyncThunk

ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 13:07I think the return value from the Promise
inside the then
callback does signify that the login operation is successful. But that doesn't mean you will get isAuthenticated
as true
because your handleSubmit
would have been closing over the previous value of isAuthenticated
which was false
.
You would require to have a custom useEffect
which triggers on isAuthenticated
and other values that your logic requires.
The following changes should satisfy what you need :-
