Exercises from the "Little Schemer" series of books by Daniel P. Friedman and Matthias Felleisen. The Little Schemer - 4th Edition. I started in Ruby, because I know it best, but as it came into higher order functions in Chapter 8 - “Lambda the Ultimate” - I decided to switch to a language with first-class functions. Lua, at first, but then chose JavaScript, using NodeJS, since it's more important to keep my JavaScript chops up. Now I'm glad I did it this way, because I'm making myself solve the problems all over again, a few days after doing it the first time, but from memory, which is surprisingly half-gone already! Maybe I'll do it again in different languages, some day.

Hey guys given the example below in C when operating on a 64bit system as i understand, a pointer is 8 byte. Wouldn't the calloc here allocate too little memory as it takes the sizeof(int) which is 4 bytes? Thing is, this still works. Does it overwrite the memory? Would love some clarity on this.
Bonus question: if i remove the type casting (int*) i sometimes get a warning "invalid conversion from 'void*' to 'int*', does this mean it still works considering the warning?

Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 21:19calloc is allocating the amount of memory you asked for on the heap. The pointer is allocated by your compiler either in registers or on the stack. In this case, calloc is actually allocating enough memory for 4 ints on the heap (which on most systems is going to be 16 bytes, but for the arduino uno it would be 8 because the sizeof(int) is 2), then storing the pointer to that allocated memory in your register/stack location.
For the bonus question: Arduino uses C++ instead of C, and that means that it uses C++'s stronger type system. void * and int * are different types, so it's complaining. You should cast the return value of malloc when using C++.

I have a store setup that has multiple arrays
I'm trying to search all arrays at once, via a textfield.
I can get this done, by calling a selector function on keyup, that filters the 4 arrays and pushes to a new array.
I've thought about merging all the arrays to one array before filtering, but I want to keep the results separate, as they are going to be displayed in categories.
Just trying to see if I can streamline the performance at all and if there's a more concise way of doing this, in case I need to do something similar with larger arrays.

- Access token: You use it to make API calls (as in the Authorization header above). But this token usually expires after a short period of time.
- Refresh token: Use this token to refresh the access token after it has expired.
You should use requests-oauthlib in addition with requests.

I'm writing a Firebase function (Gist) which

All of the data processing works perfectly fine but I can't get the outer await (point 1 in my list) to wait for the inner awaits (queries towards realtime DB) and thus when SendGrid should be called the data is empty. The data arrives a little while later. Example output from Firebase function logs can be seen below:

I'm probably mixing up my async/awaits because of the awaits inside the await. But I don't see how else the code could be written without splitting it out into many atomic pieces but that would still require stitching a bunch of awaits together and make it harder to read.
So, two questions in total. Can this code work and what would be the ideal way to handle this pattern of making further processing on top of data fetched from Realtime DB?

First time actually using anything to do with swing - sorry for the poor code and crude visuals!
Using swing for a massively over-complicated password checker school project, and when I came to loading in a JMenuBar, it doesn't render properly the first time. Once I run through one of the options first, it reloads correctly, but the first time it comes out like this:

But after I run one of the methods, either by clicking one of the buttons that I added to check if it was just the JFrame that was broken or using one of the broken menu options, it reloads correctly, but has a little grey bar above where the JMenuBar actually renders: Post-method render
