A CSV file is a list of strings separated by commas, with newlines (\n) separating the rows.

Due to this simplistic layout, it is often not suitable for containing strings that may contain commas within them, for instance dialogue.

That being said, with your input file, it is possible to use regex to replace any single newlines with a comma, which effectively does the "each new line converted into a column, each new paragraph a new row" requirement.

You don't need it. It is enough to inject HttpClient into your class by constructor:

Configure Jetty to run a custom filter before filters in war file's web.xml run
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 17:41

I have a third party .war file that I run on a Jetty server. I need to run code for logging purposes before the filters defined in the .war file's deployment descriptor run. The code needs to have access to the incoming request and the response object and to the context of the logger that runs for the app in the war.

Is there a way to do this in Jetty's xml configuration file? I don't want to touch the war file due to concerns about license.

I could override the deployment descriptor which would allow me to add custom filters but I believe these would then run after the filters in the war. I could also use a request customizer but that doesn't give me access to the response which I also need to edit.

I tried adding a handler to a HandlerCollection before the handler with the org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext that runs the war but it doesn't seem that I have access to the web app's logger's context...

Is there any way to do this? So before the web app's servlet executes run a piece of code that can access the incoming request and the response and the web app's context?

            Option 1:

To access the raw Request and Response at the various stages of their lifecycles, use the HttpChannel.Listener (make sure you read the javadoc/apidoc to understand what each event means).

            Option 2:

To add a handler in the WebAppContext, before the Session/Security handling, but after other handlers, use WebAppContext.insertHandler(HandlerWrapper).

            Option 3:

Create a web-fragment servlet jar that represents your servlet Filter, and add it to the WebAppContext.setExtraClassPath(String), which will be picked up and added to the actual webapp's startup.

            Option 4:

Create a custom RequestLog implementation (that you add to Server.setRequestLog(RequestLog) that is notified once the request AND response are complete, so you can log the state of the request/log to whatever source you want.

            Option 5:

Use one of the existing RequestLog implementations to log the details you desire to the console in the format you desire. (Look at the combination of CustomRequestLog and Slf4jRequestLogWriter)

If this isn't going to throw an exception then I don't know what is going to.

This is caused by using blocking code within Netty's event loop.

The code over here is making a blocking request 20 times in a row which cause the machine to break. I don't know what data is coming from the client but I would never recommend to do it in this manner.

Why my Google Drive API access auto revoked?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 11:56

I have some problem with Google Drive API access: my access revoked every week! What I have done:

            1. Created an app in Google Cloud Platform.
            2. Enabled Google API.
            3. Created a service account for my app.
            4. Created OAuth 2.0 client secret for third-party apps.

I have some files on my home server that I want to upload to my Google Drive once a day. When I request access to my Google Drive (I'm requesting offline access) I can work with my drive without any problems. Also, I can see my app in my Google Account third-party apps tab. But after a week I see that my app just disappearing from the third-party apps tab in Google Account and my server receives that access and refresh tokens are expired. This happened to me already 4 times!

The only thing that is strange is that when I'm requesting access Google says that this app is "untrusted" and "if I am sure that I want to give the access". If so, how can I make the app trusted?

How can I give permanent access to my Google Drive for my app? I only need this for my account, not for other people, because only I using this cloud app. Thank You.

I found the solution. After the first time access was granted to my app, a new option appeared in my Google Account called "Access for untrusted third-party apps". I need to enable this option and grand access for my app again. After that my app appeared in an untrusted section of my Google Account but no access revoke by Google for now.

How to create in C or C++ the contents value of Sig type object for digital signature in PDF?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 06:14

We are programmatically creating PDF using our in house lib (C++) by adding all the required objects so that PDF readers can render them properly. Currently we are enhancing the lib to support digital signatures in PDF. Our users will use USB token or Windows certificates to sign the PDF. On studying raw PDF file with digital signature, we were able to make sense of all the objects except for the contents of Sig type object.

            Answered 2021-Jun-10 at 16:48

Ok, the signature container is embedded correctly.

But there are issues with the signature container itself:

            • Both in the SignedData.digestAlgorithms collection and in the SignerInfo.digestAlgorithm value you have used the OID of SHA1withRSA, but that is a full signature algorithm, not the mere digest algorithm SHA1 expected there.

            • Then the SHA1 hash of the signed bytes is BB78A402F7A537A34D6892B83881266501A691A8 but the hash you signed is 90E28B8A0D8E48691DAFE2BA10A4761FFFDCCD3D. This might be because you hash buffer2 and

              buffer2 has empty contents data (/Contents <>)

The hex string delimiters '<' and '>' also belong to the contents value and, therefore, must also be removed in buffer2.

Furthermore, your signature is very weak:

            • It uses SHA1 as hash algorithm. SHA1 meanwhile has been recognized as too weak a hash algorithm for document signatures.
            • It doesn't use signed attributes, neither the ESS signing certificate nor the algorithm identifier protection attribute. Many validation policies require such special attributes.

All the app files and extraDirectories are owned by root.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 15:20

The reason you want to change the ownership of some part of the app directory is that your app wants to modify some files or create new ones inside it at runtime. Generally speaking, it is considered a good practice to build an image to be immutable as much as possible.

Since you mentioned /app/logs, I suspect that your app generates log files while it is running. On some modern container orchestration platforms (such as Kubernetes), apps are usually designed to output logs to stdout and stderr.

The best practice is to write your application logs to the standard output (stdout) and standard error (stderr) streams.

Think about it: if your app generates logs files at /app/logs inside a container (there will be multiple containers of the same image running), how would you collect and monitor them in a unified way? What if different apps generate log files at different file system locations? But more importantly, if your container crashes, you'll just lose the log files. By writing logs to stdout and stderr, the platform will take care of all the complexities of managing and co-relating logs from all pods.

If you cannot change your app about the log files, at least you should mount a volume at /app/logs at runtime. For any container runtime (be it k8s or Docker), this is easily configurable. The mounted directory will be usually world-writable, so you won't need to change the ownership. But you'll still have to think about how to collect and manage the log files.

Likewise, if it is not for log files but that your app needs a file system to create a temporary file inside the app directory and you cannot change the location for some reason, at least you should try to mount an ephemeral volume before falling back to the last-resort of using the Jib Ownership Extension you mentioned.

Conclusively, give a careful assessment of why you have to change the ownership first. If the app wants to mutate itself at runtime, usually it's not a good practice for containerization and there must be some root cause that you may need to resolve in a proper way.

            Uno-Platform implement app tracking prompt
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 14:43

I am in the process of updating my app and with Apple changing the Privacy requirements(I do like this), I believe I need to add App tracking permissions into my app. This is because I use a webview that goes to a third party website that grabs the device IP address and puts a cookie in the view. I am struggling with how to do this in Uno. I know it uses the Xamarin platform underneath- but I am not really understanding how to do this. There are no ads anywhere in the app. I have only been able to find a few examples- so what I am putting below is based off of them.

I see that I need to add NSUserTrackingUsageDescription to my info.plist. I see that I need to use AttTrackingManager. So- first- how do I import AttTrackingManager into my project in Visual Studio? I checked in Nuget and did not see it. From what I can tell- I need to check for the value in my OnLoaded, and depending on the value I need to either zero out the device ID or do nothing. Also- do I need to check this value anytime my app accesses the webview- User goes to a different page in the app and comes back to the webview(I would think I need to check it)?

Are my statements above correct? Is the best way to implement the parts in the code using something like this:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 14:43

Your approach seems sound. Let me clarify some of your interrogations.

1- You are looking for a nuget but you don't need to. ATTrackingManager is part of the iOS SDK (in the AppTrackingTransparency namespace), as long as you target iOS14.5 as a compilation target you will have access to it. The Xamarin.iOS bits are built-in VisualStudio, so just make sure your version is high enough.

2- You need to add a NSUserTrackingUsageDescription in info.plist as you mentioned. This will be displayed in the popup.

3- In your code, to prompt the user with the native popup you need something like this.

OAuth using client_id and client secret for token request, is it secure?
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 11:59

Hi I am learning about api security and reading material for Oauth. I am little confusion as below.

I am a client and using the api services from some third party. Once I as a client login to my client app and later I need to access api. Then the authorization process start. In the first step I need to get request for authorization code, once the consent is developed and Oauth server return the temporary authorization code then client will be requesting for the token. In this step client would be sending client id and client secret with other parameters. Lets say if one of the programmer who developed the code or has access to the code would know the client id and also the client secret. Once that developer leaves the company then how protected that client id and client secret is? Having the client id and client secret one can easily access the resources.

            ...

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 11:59

You are correct that someone with access to the client_id and client_secret - and some dedication - could potentially access the resources. Do note that it also requires obtaining an authorization code from the user, which requires phishing or some other kind of - not too difficult - attack on the side. But basically impersonating the client when you have the client credentials is easy.

To prevent that, you can use techniques that are used elsewhere for keeping secrets out of the hands of rogue developers, such as:

            • rotate the client secret regularly
            • change the client secret explicitly on certain events, e.g. when someone leaves or a leak was detected
            • use a PKI solution for client authentication (such as private_key_jwt) which does not require any changes on the Provider side to rollover the client's certificate/key, thus making the first two approaches easier (in case the client cert/key is compromised)
            • use different secrets in production that in development environments and shield the secrets in production environments from people that should not have access
            • etc.
