How to type-constrain the entries of a Raku function's array argument?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 23:08

I am trying to define a subroutine in Raku whose argument is, say, an Array of Ints (imposing that as a constraint, i.e. rejecting arguments that are not Arrays of Ints).

Question: What is the "best" (most idiomatic, or straightforward, or whatever you think 'best' should mean here) way to achieve that?

Examples run in the Raku REPL follow.

What I was hoping would work

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 06:40

I think the main misunderstanding is that my Int @a = 1,2,3 and [1,2,3] are somehow equivalent. They are not. The first case defines an array that will only take Int values. The second case defines an array that will take anything, and just happens to have Int values in it.

I'll try to cover all versions you tried, why they didn't work, and possibly how it would work. I'll be using a bare dd as proof that the body of the function was reached.

            QUESTION

            Refer to variables dynamically
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 17:01

Context: I am creating a Django management command which will accept a positional argument. This argument is a location. My goal is to use the location value to refer to a corresponding variable.

I have a global variable named Boston_webhook. This is a simple string which contains a long URL which is just a MSteams webhook...

I have an additional global variable named Budapest_webhook which contains the same data type, but instead refers to a webhook related to the Budapest location.

In my script, a connector variable has to be defined in order to send the message to the correct place.

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 04:44

The error says it all. You can't use ctx in events since ctx represents the Context where command is provoked. Read the docs about ctx here: https://discordpy.readthedocs.io/en/stable/ext/commands/api.html

In order to send a message to a specific channel use bot.get_channel(id) which will return a discord.Channel object and then you can use discord.Channel.send() to send a message to that channel.

Same code with PyQT5/PySide2 runs on MacOS but throws an error on Linux
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 18:22

I wrote GUI using PySide2, numpy and matplotlib which works without any problm without problem on MacOS 11.2.3. However I get an error when running the code on Ubuntu 20.4 and The code works

I made a GUI using PySide2 and matplotlib. The goal is click on an image and store the coordinate of the clicks in a csv. After launching the application on Ubuntu and having clicked on the "button" button, I get an error message (provided after the code). It seems that under the Linux, the code is being run until line 91 (although no clicks where made on the image yet and therefore, the dataframe to store them is obviously empty) while on MacOS, the interpreter has stopped at line 76 waiting for the clicks of the user (on MacOS the picture has launched and there is nothing on the terminal)

I'm running on Windows, and your code has the same problem.

The first thing I noticed was that you do not have a backend specified. On my system clicking the button just shows an image without a GUI. In this situation there is nothing for click events to be connected to, and there is no GUI window to close.

I'm assuming on MacOS a plot figure shows up and lets you click on the graph several times. Once you close the graph print("ok1") is run. If this is the case plt.show() is blocking and waiting for the window to close. This is really a matplotlib issue. I tried running plt.show(block=True) which did not work with PySide2. There could be a PySide2 compatibility issue or a configuration file or the system setting causes different behavior.

The code below does checks if the figure.canvas is visible and blocks until it is closed.

How to push a document in an array nested in another array?
            Asked 2021-Jun-14 at 09:31

This is my problem : I have a document ( let's call it root) containing an array of another documents (stick), that contain another array of another documents (leaf).

            Or simply said : root{ stickChain[leaveschain1[ leaf1, leaf2],leaveschain2[ leaf1, leaf2] ]}

I have access to root _id, stick _id, or whatever it is needed to identify each document.

Basically, the best result I've come so far is, when creating my leaves documents, is to store then at the same level tha sticks, or in another word I've come to create an array of leaves in root.

I'm working in javascript and using mongoose
