            QUESTION

Why when I execute my Java program does it not convert the first user input, but does every user input after?
            Asked 2021-Jun-09 at 04:15

I'm trying to write a java program for currency conversion as a class assignment. My code is working almost exactly the way I would like it to. When executed, it will ask for the user to input the Japanese Yen to US Dollar exchange rate. Enter any number and that works like it should.

However, it will prompt the user next to enter the amount of US dollars they want to convert to Yen. Again, the idea is to enter any number that is > 0 because if the user enters 0 the sentinel value will force a quit and build success message. When you enter a number and click 'Enter,' it just shows a blank line and does not make the conversion like I want it to.

But if you enter a number on that next blank line then it makes the conversion! You can even type in the numbers with spaces: 10 20 50 100... it will convert all of them on separate lines.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get rid of that first black line it gives and go straight into the conversions... or some other workaround.

            Here is my code:

You should move the USD = input.nextDouble(); inside of the while (USD != 0) loop to the end of the loop. Currently you are taking two inputs before the first output. If you move it to the end it works as expected.

You cannot dereference a field from a plain SQL table by index, because the jOOQ runtime model does not know any of the fields of that table. I suspect the problem here is that you don't know the name either, as it's a table valued function and you've not named the field explicitly. How about naming it explicity:

            QUESTION

Sporadically opens trades when EA should be preventing this
            Asked 2021-Mar-03 at 14:59

            Morning all,

I'm currently testing out a segment of my EA which is supposed to only open a trade (providing other conditions are met) on the opening of the candle bar, which in MQL4 language is LastActiontime=Time[0];.

It's working really well: it is only opening trades on the LastActiontime=Time[0]; time, and not opening any trades part way through the candlestick bar should the EA need to be reinitialised.

However, on some occasions (though not every occasion), when I close the trade party way through the current candlestick bar, it sporadically opens another trade and thus defying the "only opening a trade on the opening time of the candlestick bar" rule.

I have the the snippet, below. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong?

            Notes:

            • The best way is to test this on a 1M chart so you're not waiting any longer to confirm the EA works.
            • The EA will only allow one trade to be open, if there are any trades open when the EA is reinitialised, it won't open a new trade - this is by design so as to avoid overtrading.

            Suggestions / thinking points

            • The EA may not be initialising fast enough to comply with the oninit parameters, so does not recognise that the conditions before another trade is initialised.

Your code is not really best practice for what you are trying to achieve. The best method to only carry out operations at the start of a bar would be as follows:

In Python3 implicit relative imports are forbidden.

What you can do is from .module import name. In your case for example from .CurrencyConversion import classname/funcname

you can check the python3 docs https://docs.python.org/release/3.0.1/whatsnew/3.0.html#removed-syntax
