            QUESTION

How to produce a point graph in R like this?
            Asked 2021-Jun-16 at 04:05

I have basically this very odd type of data frame:

The first column is the name of the States (say I have 3 states), the second to the last column (say I have 5 columns) contains some values recorded at different dates (not continuous). I want to create a graph that plots the values for each State on the range of the dates that starts from the earliest and end in the latest dates (continuous).

            The table looks like this:

            state 2020-01-01 2020-01-05 2020-01-06 2020-01-10 AZ NA 0.078 -0.06 NA AK 0.09 NA NA 0.10 MS 0.19 0.21 NA 0.38

"NA" means there is not data.

How do I produce this graph in which the x axis is from 2020-01-01 to 2020-01-10 (continuous), the y axis contains the changing values (as points) of the three States, each state occupies its separate (segmented) y-axis?

            Thank you.

You can get the data into a long format, which makes it easier to plot. R will make it difficult to read column names that start with a number. While reading the data, ensure that you have check.names = FALSE so that column names are read as is.

repeat values of a column based on a condition
            Asked 2021-Jun-16 at 00:54

I have a data frame including three columns named 'Altitude', 'Distance', 'Slope'. The column of 'Slope' is calculated using the two first columns 'Altitude', 'Distance'. @ the first step the purpose was to calculate 'Slope' using a condition explained below: A condition function was deployed to start from the top column of the "Distance" variable and add up (sum) values until the summation of them is greater or equal to 10 (>=10). If this condition corrects then calculate the "Slope" using the given formula: Slope=Average(Altitude)/(sum(Distance)). The summation of the 'Distance' was counting from the first value of that to the index that the 'Distance' has stopped there). The following code is for the above explanation (By Tim Roberts):

            AWS DynamoDB Partition Key Design
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 18:09

I read this answer, which clarified a lot of things, but I'm still confused about how I should go about designing my primary key.

First off I want to clarify the idea of WCUs. I get that WCU is the write capacity of max 1kb per second. Does it mean that if writing a piece of data takes 0.25 seconds, I would need 4 of those to be billed 1 WCU? Or each time I write something it consumes 1 WCU, but I could also write X times within 1 second and still be billed 1 WCU?

            Usage

I want to create a table that stores the form data for a set of gyms (95% will be waivers, the rest will be incidents reports). Most of the time, each forms will be accessed directly via its unique ID. I also want to query the forms by date, form, userId, etc..

We can assume an average of 50k forms per gym

            Options

            • First option is straight forward: having the formId be the partition key. What I don't like about this option is that scan operations will always filter out 90% of the data (i.e. the forms from other gyms), which isn't good for RCUs.

            • Second option is that I would make the gymId the partition key, and add a sort key for the date, formId, userId. To implement this option I would need to know more about the implications of having 50k records on one partition key.

            • Third option is to have one table per gyms and have the formId as partition key. This seems to be like the best option for now, but I don't really like the idea of having a a large number of tables doing the same thing in my account.

Is there another option? Which one of the three is better?

Edit: I'm assuming another option would be SimpleDB?

For your PK design. What data does the app have when a user is going to look for a form? Does it have the GymID, userID, and formID? If so, make a compound key out of that for the PK perhaps? So your PK might look like:

Calling a function in another function to reduce repeated code
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 17:51

I have two functions one thats triggered on a mouseenter event and the other on mouseleave. Both of these functions are repeated three times.

On mouseenter the classlist "active" is addded 5x and the text content is changed. On mouseleave the classlist active is removed 5x and the text content is set to an empty string, and the original image is displayed again.

When the mouseenter event listener is triggered, Depending on which image is being hovered (3 images).
the text content property that gets added various between the three "Photosnap" "Dine" "Nike".
As-well as the background color that gets triggered various between "red" "blue" "pink".

Hover state shown as red left image and normal state shown as right image
-The image shown here is one of three. It is displayed with a red background and the text content of "photosnap".
-The other with a blue background and the text content of "Dine".
-The third and final with a pink background and the text content of "Nike".

I hope this paints a clear picture i am having a hard time making this a code snippet.

I am trying to refactor this javascript so its not so repetitive. I'm new to javascript and having a hard time getting this to work as something other than what i currently have. I'm not clear on how to make a function that i can call inside of other functions to cut down on the repeated code. Or possibly use the "this" keyword ?

How can I plot two column combinations from a df or tibble as a scatterplot in R using purrr (pipes, maps, imaps)
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 17:51

I am trying to create scatter plots of all the combinations for the columns: insulin, sspg, glucose (mclust, diabetes dataset, in R) with class as the colo(u)r. By that I mean insulin with sspg, insulin with glucose and sspg with glucose.

And I would like to do that with tidyverse, purrr, mappings and pipe operations. I can't quite get it to work, since I'm relatively new to R and functional programming.

When I load the data I've got the columns: class, glucose, insulin and sspg. I also used pivot_longer to get the columns: attr and value but I was not able to plot it and don't know how to create the combinations.

I assume that there will be an iwalk() or map2() function at the end and that I might have to use group_by() and nest() and maybe combn(., m=2) for the combinations or something like that. But it will probably have some way simpler solution that I can not see myself.

My attempts have amounted to this:
