            Error when trying to run my React Native app on Android

            I've built my React Native app and tested and troubleshooted with my iOS devices for months. Now I'm trying to built and test the app on Android for the first time. The thing is, that I keep getting errors trying to run the Android-version of my app. After hours of debugging and troubleshooting, I tried to create a new RN project and see if that could run on my emulator and device. I got that part working and then I wanted to copy/paste the files of my existing app project into the new project.

            I pasted my existing assets, styles, the source JS-files and the package.json file into the new project, ran npm install and then I ended up with the exact same error message as I had in the original project when I run react-native run-android.

            I've hit this same issue and have temporarily resolved it by uninstalling react-native-video (npm uninstall --save react-native-video). That's not a great answer as I need that component, but I don't have a full solution yet. I think somehow com.yqritc:android-scalablevideoview:1.0.4. is required by react-native-video but has gotten lost or removed. Other thoughts are welcome.

            UPDATE: Resolved! In your build.gradle in your Android folder you need to add the repository "jcenter()" in allprojects (not in build dependencies) like this...

            On page 12 of One Monad to Prove Them All, it is written that "a prominent example [of container] is the list data type. A list can be represented by the length of the list and a function mapping positions within the list".

            At first I thought that the free monad on this container would be isomorphic the list monad.

            But on page 12, it is written that "the list monad is not a free monad in the sense that the list monad is not isomorphic to an instance of the free monad".

            So what is the free monad on the above container? What is it isomorphic to? Why isn't it isomorphic to the list monad? Can it be made isomorphic by quotient?

            I think one should be a bit careful.

            I don't think it's the case that if M is a free monad, then applying the free monad construction gets you back something isomorphic to M. So your question of "what is the free monad on X" is actually not related to "what functor is X the free monad of?". To show that monad M is not a free monad, the only thing we need to do is exhibit some equality that's true for M but not implied by the monad laws -- since the meaning of the free monad construction is that it guarantees the monad laws and nothing else.

            I've built this new ggplot2 geom layer I'm calling geom_triangles (see https://github.com/ctesta01/ggtriangles/) that plots isosceles triangles given aesthetics including x, y, z where z is the height of the triangle and the base of the isosceles triangle has midpoint (x,y) on the graph.

            What I want is for the geom_triangles() layer to automatically provide legend components for the height and width of the triangles, but I am not sure how to do that.

            I understand based on this reference that I may need to adjust the draw_key argument in the ggproto StatTriangles object, but I'm not sure how I would do that and can't seem to find examples online of how to do it. I've been looking at the source code in ggplot2 for the draw_key functions, but I'm not sure how I would introduce multiple legend components (one for each of height and width) in a single draw_key argument in the StatTriangles ggproto.

            I think you might be slightly overcomplicating things. Ideally, you'd just want a single key drawing method for the whole layer. However, because you're using a Stat to do the majority of calculations, this becomes hairy to implement. In my answer, I'm avoiding this.

            Let's say I'd want to use a geom-only implementation of such a layer. I can make the following (simplified) class/constructor pair. Below, I haven't bothered width_scale or height_scale parameters, just for simplicity.

            Memory-mapping from a driver extension to an application can be accomplished by implementing the IOUserClient::CopyClientMemoryForType in the user client subclass (on the driver side) and then calling IOConnectMapMemory64 (from the user-space application side). This has been very nicely and thoroughly explained in this related answer.

            The only missing bit is getting an IOMemoryDescriptor corresponding to the desired PCI BAR in order to return it from the CopyClientMemoryForType implementation.

            I got a large list of JSON objects that I want to parse depending on the start of one of the keys, and just wildcard the rest. A lot of the keys are similar, like "matchme-foo" and "matchme-bar". There is a builtin wildcard, but it is only used for whole values, kinda like an else.

            I am trying to find a more efficient solution to a combinatorics problem than the solution I have already found.

            Suppose I have a set of N objects (indexed 0..N-1) and wish to consider each subset of size K (0<=K<=N). There are S=C(N,K) (i.e., "N choose K") such subsets. I wish to map (or "encode") each such subset to a unique integer in the range 0..S-1.

            Using N=7 (i.e., indexes are 0..6) and K=4 (S=35) as an example, the following mapping is the goal:
            0 1 2 3 --> 0
            0 1 2 4 --> 1
            ...
            2 4 5 6 --> 33
            3 4 5 6 --> 34

            N and K were chosen small for the purposes of illustration. However, in my actual application, C(N,K) is far too large to obtain these mappings from a lookup table. They must be computed on-the-fly.

            In the code that follows, combinations_table is a pre-computed two-dimensional array for fast lookup of C(N,K) values.

            All code given is compliant with the C++14 standard.

            If the objects in a subset are ordered by increasing order of their indexes, the following code will compute that subset's encoding:

            Take a look at the recursive formula for combinations:

            Suppose you have a combination space C(n,k). You can divide that space into two subspaces:

            • C(n-1,k-1) all combinations, where the first element of the original set (of length n) is present
            • C(n-1, k) where first element is not preset

            If you have an index X that corresponds to a combination from C(n,k), you can identify whether the first element of your original set belongs to the subset (which corresponds to X), if you check whether X belongs to either subspace:

            • X < C(n-1, k-1) : belongs
            • X >= C(n-1, k-1): doesn't belong

            Then you can recursively apply the same approach for C(n-1, ...) and so on, until you've found the answer for all n elements of the original set.
