Do Vue.js render functions allow return of an array of VNodes?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 18:46

I am working on extending a Vue.js frontend application. I am currently inspecting a render function within a functional component. After looking over the docs, I had the current understanding that the render function within the functional component will return a single VNode created with CreateElement aka h. My confusion came when I saw a VNode being returned as an element in an array. I could not find any reference to this syntax in the docs. Does anyone have any insight?

It seems this was implemented in:

            https://github.com/vuejs/vue/commit/c7c13c2a156269d29fd9c9f8f6a3e53a2f2cac3d

This was a result of an issue raised in 2018 (https://github.com/vuejs/vue/issues/8056) , because this.$scopedSlots.default() returned both a VNode or an array of VNodes depending on the content.

The main argument was that this is inconsistent with how regular slots behave in render functions, and means any render function component rendering scoped slots as children needs to type check the result of invoking the slot to decide if it needs to be wrapped in an array

So Evan comments on the issue thread here, explaining that this.$scopedSlots.default would always return Arrays beginning v2.6 to allow for consistency, but to avoid breaking changes for how $scopedSlots was being used, the update would also allow return of an Array of a single VNode from render functions as well.

I managed to solve the challenge.
I rebuilt the project completely, made it with divs and flexbox, and filled the slots by using simple JavaScript (instead of using margin-left in the SCSS).
Also, I built the project in React.

Give calculated jQuery value / variable to CSS class
            Asked 2021-Jun-13 at 02:29

I got the following navbar. What I want it to do is:

            1. Come into view when you scroll down
            2. Leave the view when scrolling up again (to a defined amount)
            3. "Close" the navbar with the arrow to make it smaller
            4. "Reopen" the navbar after it's "closed"
            5. At any time I would still like the navbar to hide when scrolling to the top. Doesn't matter if it's extended or compressed

That's not working, because my code to toggle the navbar will set inline values for top which is needed in class to hide it when scrolling up

So the real question besides what's wrong with my code is:

Is there any way to give my calculated height into CSS? Or don't set the styles inline but rather define a new class or something and give that class the values?

So I can still have some order in CSS and the hide on scroll up won't get overridden by the inline styles.

I got it work by looking into the source code of the items function: You must not call stickyHeader within the items function. No need to modify the PagingData flow at all. Just use peek to get the next item without trigering a reload and then layout it:

My navbar is sticky and when I scroll down to the bottom of page or mid of page and click the button then the navbar menu is displayed at the top of webpage not at the current location where I am.

The way to think about this is the menu that opens belongs to the red menu bar you have. So you want it to be positioned based on where your menubar is. The first step is therefore to move the #mobilemenu div into your #btndiv

2 issues: Python Pickle .dat append to list and tkinter checkbutton issue
            Asked 2021-Jun-11 at 04:24

I've had a lot of issues with this application because I am simply not good enough yet, but I am almost done with it and just want to finish it so I can move on to some slightly lower level projects.

It is a tkinter to-do application.

You can add a Task to a listbox

For every Task, there are some associated attributes, among others: ````self.value = vandself.connectivity = c. The hierarchy of the tasks displayed in the listbox is determined by the value of val_var``` (e.g. the higher the value the higher on the list it will be displayed).

The Task and the associated attributes are determined by the user's input when one creates another task.

The Task is appended to a list task_list and after the user has added more than 1 task to the list, the next time one adds a task one will have the option to check existing tasks that it is connected with somehow.

The list is sorted so the task with the highest value (val_var) is displayed at the top of the Listbox and the task with the lowest value is displayed at the bottom of the Listbox. You can "Save tasks" and then launch the application at a later time where you can then "Load tasks".

            Issue 1:

After loading tasks from a saved .dat file, it displays in the Listbox in the order it was saved in. However, if you now want to add another task at least two undesirable things happen:

            1. The tasks now loaded into the Listbox are now not displayed as checkbuttons upon adding a new task.
            2. When you add another task (again this is after loading the .dat file) the Listbox will delete what was just loaded and the Listbox will only display the newly added task.

I am somehow interested in being able to load the Tasks instances from the .dat file and then append them to the task_list so they are a part of the current session/instance of the application, but I don't know how one might do that.

            Issue 2:

On a given session where tasks have been added to the Listbox, they can be deleted from the listbox using the "Delete task" button. The selected task in the Listbox is deleted, but it is not the same task that is deleted from the task_list.

To test what I mean by this one can add a couple of tasks to the Listbox and then delete one after doing so. Notice upon trying to create yet another new task that the one just deleted from the Listbox will still be shown as a checkbutton - however, another task that wasn't just deleted has now vanished as a checkbutton.

Any help with these issues will be sincerely appreciated.

Your problem is fairly simple. You need to save the objects of the Task class instead of saving the strings present inside the Listbox.

That said you should never give bare except clause like the one you did, always specify the exception you want to catch. You will find it hard to find the exact problem if you don't.

For example In this block of your code:

You can download it from GitHub.
You can use sticky like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
