QUESTION
I have a Xamarin Forms app that needs to call a web page that contains a custom Bing Map and on the web page it needs to be able to get the users current location.
The app already has the required "app" permissions for both Android and iOS and I can get the users location internally in the app without issues.
When I call my external web page that has a custom Bing Map, it does allow me to get the users location in both Android and iOS BUT on iOS it asks the user "website... Would Like To Use Your Current Location. Don't Allow / OK" each time they visit the web page from inside my Xamarin app.
I found the following articles that help point me in the right directions but I just don't understand enough of iOS to piece it together.
How to prevent WKWebView to repeatedly ask for permission to access location? -- This looks like what I need but it is in iOS and does not use WkWebViewRender which is required for newer iOS apps.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/xamarin/xamarin-forms/app-fundamentals/custom-renderer/hybridwebview -- This shows me how to add "script" to the iOS side but I can't get the DidReceiveScriptMessage method to fire.
Here is my current implementation of WkWebViewRender.

QUESTION
I'm using Bing Maps V8 and As per ask, I've to move/pan the bing map to set the visibility of the pushpin. Based on the pushpin location we can directly set the view as shown below but I've adjust/move the bing map only if the current view of bing maps doesn't have the pushpin visible to the naked eye.

I cannot see a local image in my map marker, I am using the following code:

QUESTION
In my mapping app, when I populate a table with all the data about a location EXCEPT the coordinates (Latitude and Longitude) -- which I don't expect the user to know/provide), those values are determined later programmatically when the map that the data represents is loaded in the app for the first time.
When I do load the existing map from the main form, the code is this:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-11 at 04:24do you need to set/update the location coordinates before adding the pushpins? Without being able to debug this, its hard to tell. But it feels like if you run the UpdateLocationWithCoordinates(location, _latitude, _longitude); method call before adding your pins, it will work the first time for you. My thought is, that method call runs after the Add Pins section on the first run. Which is why it runs and adds the pins successfully on the second run, everytime "so far".

Using javascript and "document.querySelector" to successfully identify and extract text from the last message on a Discord channel is proving difficult. I've done this successfully on other websites by using :last-child, as such:

QUESTION
In my app, the user can either load a text file (semi-colon delimited) which describes the characteristics of locations to be turned into [Push]Pins on a Bing Map, or load pre-existing map data (from a local database) to the same end.
In the case of loading from the database, it's working great and a Pin is displayed on the map for every corresponding record in the database, such as this:
But when I populate the database from the contents of the text file and then create Pins based on those values, only a subset of the pins display on the map - usually just the first two, in fact!
But then, when I load the same map from the database, all displays as it should.
I've checked the database after generating the new records from the text file, and all the records are indeed there (including the coordinates (Latitude and Longitude values). The code seems to be the same in both cases. But it's not displaying all the Pins...
The text file contents are such as this (this is what created the map shown above):

Answered 2021-Feb-13 at 07:52Possible and Probable issue: Multithreading and assignment to Instance level reference.
TLDR; in AddPushpin() , use local variable instead of instance variable.
replace this.Pin = new Pushpin()
with var pin=new Pushpin()
and then add this local variable to collection (You might want to change this collection with threadsafe one)

QUESTION
I am creating maps where in some cases the pushpins represent locations where events occurred and where the date of the events are significant. I want to display the order of the chronological events on the pushpins themselves (with additional data being available to the user via the toolip property/by hovering).
For example, I want a map that looks like this:
...to look something like this:
Is there a way to do this?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jan-30 at 10:58You can use either of the following options:
- Set Content property of the Pushpin
- Add TextBlock or Label to a MapLayer
Set Content of Pushpin
You can set the Content property of the Pushpin to the text that you want to show on pushpin.
For example the following code, shows 1-base index of the pushpins on map:
QUESTION
Using a different version/flavor of Bing Maps several years ago, I asked this same question and ultimately self-posted the answer, here.
But that doesn't work with my Winforms app using the WPF control. With this code:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jan-21 at 06:02It depends to how you have added the pushpins. You need to remove them from the same Children
collection to which you have added them.
Assuming you have added your pushpins directly to the Children
collection of the map, then you can find all the pushpins and remove them like this:
QUESTION
When I add a slew of Pushpins
to a Bing Map, I want the zoom level to automagically update to the "best fit" - the "closest in" view that allows all of the Pushpins to be displayed.
I would imagine that it would be done by computing the zoom level required by discovering the latitude values that are the furthest north and southmost, and the longitude values that are furthest east and west, and then centering on the average value of those.
My idea is passing a List of GeoCoordinates
to a method that would return the appropriate ZoomLevel, and possibly a separate method that would calculate the center point of the map.
These two values could then be used for the map's SetView(location, ZoomLevel)
method.
Has this been done already, or is there a Bing Maps call that will handle this?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jan-19 at 04:21There is an overload of SetView which accepts a list of locations and set the view to the bounding rectangle of those locations. It ensures all the locations are visible; you also need to add a bit of extra margins to the view rectangle to make sure all the pushpins are visible.
Having pushpins on the map, means you already have a list of locations or if you don't have you can easily get the locations of all those pushpins.

QUESTION
I have a code in maps JS api. I have 2 query search , one for finding near pharmacy, and other for hospitals. I want to label the returning markers with F for pharmacy and H for hospitals. How do I make this separation? And how can I put in query to search for hospitals and pharmacies? I tried many combinations but it return only hospital or pharmacies.
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Dec-23 at 11:18With the Places Library (as part of the Maps Javascript API) when doing a text search, you can omit the query
parameter if you provide a type
, as explained in the docs.
But the type
only supports one type. So you will have to make 2 separate requests, one with pharmacy
type and one with hospital
and add your markers accordingly. Not a big deal I would say.
You could probably omit the type and use something like hospital, pharmacy
as the text query but the results might not be of the same quality (from my tests, it doesn't return as many places and/or all relevant places). So the best option IMO is to make separate queries. You will be billed accordingly, of course.
Example:
Create your 2 request objects
