This is the code for this video on Youtube by Siraj Raval. This package contains a standalone model called PoseNet, as well as some demos, for running real-time pose estimation in the browser using TensorFlow.js. PoseNet can be used to estimate either a single pose or multiple poses, meaning there is a version of the algorithm that can detect only one person in an image/video and one version that can detect multiple persons in an image/video. Refer to this blog post for a high-level description of PoseNet running on Tensorflow.js. To keep track of issues we use the tensorflow/tfjs Github repo.

For a pose estimation model which outputs a heatmap and offsets. The desired points can be obtained by:
Performing a sigmoid operation on the heatmap:
scores = sigmoid(heatmaps)
Each keypoint of those pose is usually represented by a 2-D matrix, the maximum value in that matrix is related to where the model thinks that point is located in the input image. Use argmax2D to obtain the x and y index of that value in each matrix, the value itself represents the confidence value:
x,y = np.unravel_index(np.argmax(scores[:,:,keypointindex]), scores[:,:,keypointindex].shape)
confidences = scores[x,y,keypointindex]
That x,y is used to find the corresponding offset vector for calculating the final location of the keypoint:
offset_vector = (offsets[y,x,keypointindex], offsets[y,x,num_keypoints+keypointindex])
After you have obtained your keypoint coords and offsets you can calculate the final position of the keypoint by using ():
image_positions = np.add(np.array(heatmap_positions) * output_stride, offset_vectors)
See this for determining how to get the output stride, if you don't already have it. The tflite pose estimation has an output stride of 32.

I have downloaded and am implementing a ML application using the Tensorflow Lite Posenet Model. The output of this model is a heatmap, which is a part of CNN's I am new to.
One piece of information required to process the output is the "output stride". It is used to calculate the original coordinates of the keypoints found in the original image.
keypointPositions = heatmapPositions * outputStride + offsetVectors
But the documentation doesn't specify the output stride. Is there information or a way available in tensorflow I can use to get the output stride for this (any) pre-trained model?
- The input shape for an img is:
(257,257,3)
- The output shape is:
(9,9,17)
(1 [9x9] heatmap for 17 different keypoints)

resolution = ((InputImageSize - 1) / OutputStride) + 1
Example: An input image with a width of 225 pixels and an output stride of 16 results in an output size of 15
15 = ((225 - 1) / 16) + 1
For the tflite PoseNet model:
9 = ((257-1)/ x) + 1
x = 32
so the output stride is 32
