Answering my own question as finally reached to the solution from VS Codes very helpful and great team (https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/88936)

And this is how got closer to the source of the problem - got this strange behaviour, in a React Component.js file when I type the snippet ('clmi' in this case) - before the React Component File's return() statement, I get the expected behaviour. But if I type the snippet ('clmi') inside the return() statement, I dont get anything. i.e. the snippet does not give me the code completion option inside the return () statment.

The source was that VSCode was not recognizing this file to be a "javascriptreact" language type.

            Solution was as below

In a React Component's .js file, try the tokens inspector via "F1 > Inspect TM Scopes" and position the cursor at those insert position. That will tell you the detected, embedded language. Depending on your grammar it might be a different language

And bleow is what I am getting.

So as you can see, this not JavaScript nor JavaScript React but the jsx-attr language. So now I had to target that type with vscode snippet

So now, I put the whole snippet in the jsx-attr type target file ~/.config/Code/User/snippets/jsx-attr.json

And now the custom snippets worked as expected.

Same VSCode-Settings for the whole crew?
            Asked 2019-Jul-26 at 06:37

We want to have the same VSCode settings for the whole crew of developers. Also it would be fine to have a oneline command to tear VSCode down and restart it from scratch with predefined settings and plugins so that you do not have to worry about trying out plugins and getting beck to the known state. Kind of Config-as-Code for VSCode.

            I already found:

But non of these provides a good solution to me

We are using Mac and Windows machines and develop most of the time locally (not remotely in the cloud or the like).

I imagine like having a script like

            .... projectname up

            or

            .... projectname reset

            (or

            .... projectname down)

to receive/reset the configured settings and newest plugins that have been configured for the project.

Have any ideas or use a similar solution already?

Copy the files settings.json and keybindings.json to your target machine(s) to copy the settings. You can find those files here:

            • Win: ~\AppData\Roaming\Code\User
            • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/
            • Linux: ~/.config/Code/User

You can copy extentions from ~/.vscode/extensions or C:\Users\username\.vscode\extensions from linux/mac or windows respectively.

Add multiple cursors to the start of line in VSCode (Windows)?

I want to add multiple cursors at the start of the line in VSCode, just like I can do at the end of the line with Ctrl + Shift + L or Shift + Alt + I.

I can't find a way to move all multiple cursors at the start of the line either with Ctrl + Home as the contents are different on each line.

I found the answer here. Copy pasting the linked answer below.

            On Windows:

            1. Select the lines.

            2. Alt-Shift-I (will add multiple cursors)

            3. Shift-Home (will go at the beginning of each line and be selected)

            On Mac :

            1. Select the lines.

            2. alt-shift-I (will add multiple cursors)

            3. cmd-shift-← (will go at the beginning of each line and be selected)

So once again I trashed everything like I mentioned above, but this time in my settings.json I decided to re-enter each setting to see if one was borking those plugins. Turns out one was!

What VS-code extension is adding these non-text lines?
            Asked 2019-Apr-22 at 18:38

In this screenshot, you can see the effects of two VS-Code plugins: AlanWalk.markdown-toc and TomasHubelbauer.vscode-markdown-todo, but the lines I have highlighted are effects from some other plugin I believe..

Unfortunately this effect has a negative impact because it is making the current line jump around: every time I do something like save or undo/redo, it is like someone is pressing control+down-arrow.

The complete list of extensions I am running is below.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2019-Apr-21 at 03:19

The actual problem is the line jumping: I thought the non-text lines were a symptom of that. Seems I am wrong about that.

It never occurred to me that it might be two extensions.. I see the line jumping behaviour when I have these two extensions enabled together yzhang.markdown-all-in-one and AlanWalk.markdown-toc

And I can prevent this negative side-affect in AlanWalk.markdown-toc by un-ticking "Auto update on save".
