            If your image has a latest tag, the Pod's ImagePullPolicy will be automatically set to Always. Each time the pod is created, Kubernetes tries to pull the newest image.

            Try not tagging the image as latest or manually setting the Pod's ImagePullPolicy to Never. If you're using static manifest to create a Pod, the setting will be like the following:

            Two containers, one pod. You can see them both listed under Containers: in the describe output too. One is Prometheus itself, the other is a sidecar that trigger a reload when the config file changes because Prometheus doesn't do that itself.

            I don’t see any “resources:” fields (e.g. cpu, mem, etc.) assigned, and this should be the root cause. Please be aware that having resource(s) set on a HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaler) is a requirement, explained on official Kubernetes documentation

            Please note that if some of the Pod's containers do not have the relevant resource request set, CPU utilization for the Pod will not be defined and the autoscaler will not take any action for that metric.

            This can definitely cause the message unable to read all metrics on target Deployment(s).

            I am trying to deploy zipkin within k8s. I am using elasticsearch (version 6.8.8) as storage. The deployment works fine and the server starts. However, I only can access the server with a port-forward.

            $ kubectl -n ns-zipkin port-forward zipkin-bdcf7f78b-shd9p 8888:9411

            After that I can access http://localhost:8888/zipkin/

            What could be the reason? Already the deployment of the service does not get an endpoint (see in output below) which I would expect.

            I am integrating Prometheus into my Kubernetes cluster with the helm chart I downloaded from https://github.com/helm/helm. I am using Azure to deploy my AKS if you must know. In each of my pod, the container runs a Docker image which includes the master_server.py script that controls the workflow in my master pod.

            I am trying to get some custom metrics off from my master pod via master_server.py with the official Prometheus Python package - https://github.com/prometheus/client_python. My master_server.py looks something like this,

            Yes I got it working thanks to Charles' comments!

            I was running a Tornado web server for my application in the master pod at port 8080 so that might have disrupted the Prometheus HTTP server to scrape the metrics out of the master pod.

            In the end, I opened another port at 8081 in my master pod's deployment.yaml like this,
