QUESTION
I want to wrap the shaka-player
example in an AngularJS directive.
The example player works fine on its own and can play the MPEG-DASH version of Big Buck Bunny hosted on Akamai's CDN.
However, when trying to use shaka-player
within an AngularJS directive, player.load(url)
fails with this.target.addEventListener is not a function
.
It also reports TypeError: Cannot read property 'textTracks' of null
. (Depending on the browser, the order of these errors is sometimes reversed)
I don't know why it works standalone but not in a AngularJS directive...
The HTML fragment for the directive looks like:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-21 at 14:04The angular.element
function returns a jQuery element, as does the jQuery find function. Consequently your videoTag
variable refers to a jQuery object.
On the other hand, the shaka.Player
constructor expects an HTMLMediaElement
. So passing videoTag[0]
should work.

The only way to disable it (at time of writing) is to disable video ads, or remove the SDK
QUESTION
I am building a Dash app that will have a video playing and be controlled by a play/pause button. Above the video, I have a slider which allows a user to skip to any part in the video (10 seconds long). I want to be able to have the slider move as the video plays.
Here is what I've tried so far:

Answered 2021-Apr-18 at 16:35ImplementationNote: I initially wanted to make this a comment as I wasn't able to get the
seekTo
functionality to work in conjunction with synchronizing the time and the slider, but the explanation of my implementation was too long for a comment. Below is listed a way you could update the slider value based on thecurrentTime
of the dash player component, but doesn't implementseekTo
.

PlayerComponent
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-28 at 10:26I found the problem. Basically you are referring IVSPlayer as if it was the argument of the arrow function you passed to script onload, while the argument instead is an event (the onload event).
Solution: const {IVSPlayer} = window;
. Infact docs say
Once amazon-ivs-player.min.js is loaded, it adds an IVSPlayer variable to the global context.
Docs also explain how to setup with NPM which you may be interested in.
I updated my playground here.
I also suggest you to edit the version of the player as the last one is 1.2.0

Unless I'm missing something, I think the VideoPlayer would be all right just behaving as a functional component without any hooks for state, that could be handled by Watch. When you click on a link to another route that will point to watch, the videoHash will change

Install video-player
You can use video-player like any standard Java library. Please include the the jar files in your classpath. You can also use any IDE and you can run and debug the video-player component as you would do with any other Java program. Best practice is to use a build tool that supports dependency management such as Maven or Gradle. For Maven installation, please refer maven.apache.org. For Gradle installation, please refer gradle.org .
