In my code I register an UartDeviceCallBack on my UartDevice and when my peripheral sends data over serial, my app crashes with the following error:

By the time the line private var mDevice : UartDevice? = getDevice(..) gets invoked, uartDeviceCallBack yet refers to null because its instantiation happens a line further. Change the order of the lines:
