QUESTION
I've got an ifelse
statement that is not doing what it should. I thought it might have to do with the column type (haven_labelled
), but if I try to wrap the replacements in as.numeric
the problem persists:

will return output of same length as the test (condition) you are checking. unique(data$ano_encuesta) %in% 2010:2017
returns output of length 1 hence it returns only the 1st value of region_2
which is 8 and it is recycled and applied to all the values in the column.
If you want to check for unique
values only use if
/else

always returns the input of the user as a String
object, except from a variation where it returns the selected Object
from the supplied ones. I am talking for Java version 8 for the sake of example.
Based on your question and comments, you basically want to:
- Match
String
objects (their name) to integers (their value), so that you can calculate how much they will have to pay, plus the change afterwards. - Receive as input from the user the amount they will give, in order to calculate the change.
If so, then:
- For the first case you can use some data structure(s) from which you will be able to match the locations with their value. For example a
HashMap
can match the locations with their value, like so:

Install Magallanes
PHP requires the Visual C runtime (CRT). The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 is suitable for all these PHP versions, see visualstudio.microsoft.com. You MUST download the x86 CRT for PHP x86 builds and the x64 CRT for PHP x64 builds. The CRT installer supports the /quiet and /norestart command-line switches, so you can also script it.
