I'm making a JavaScript app where I use location.reload(). I'm using location.reload() in a onclick event handler to reset the page, and this answer says that you need to return false; after location.reload() with onclick : How to reload a page using JavaScript.

If the event listener is attached to a link, then clicking the link will result in going to another page instead of reloading the page. return false will prevent the default action in an inline event handler and the onclick property.

I am trying to make a next-word prediction model with LSTM + Mixture Density Network Based on this implementation(https://www.katnoria.com/mdn/).

Input: 300-dimensional word vectors*window size(5) and 21-dimensional array(c) representing topic distribution of the document, used to train hidden initial states.

Output: mixing coefficient*num_gaussians, variance*num_gaussians, mean*num_gaussians*300(vector size)

x.shape, y.shape, c.shape with an experimental 161 obserbations gives me such:

for MDN model , the likelihood for each sample has to be calculated with all the Gaussians pdf , to do that I think you have to reshape your matrices ( y_true and mu) and take advantage of the broadcasting operation by adding 1 as the last dimension . e.g:

Does each `yield` of a synchronous generator unavoidably allocate a fresh `{value, done}` object?

MDN says:

The yield keyword causes the call to the generator's next() method to return an IteratorResult object with two properties: value and done. The value property is the result of evaluating the yield expression, and done is false, indicating that the generator function has not fully completed.

I ran a test in Chrome 91.0.4472.77 and it appears to be a fresh object every single time. Which seems very wasteful if the processing is fine grained (high numbers of iterations, each with low computation). To avoid unpredictable throughput and GC jank, this is undesirable.

To avoid this, I can define an iterator function, where I can control (ensure) the reuse of the {value, done} object by each next() causing the property values to be modified in place, ie. there's no memory allocation for a new {value, done} object.

Am I missing something, or do generators have this inherent garbage producing nature? Which browsers are smart enough to not allocate a new {value, done} object if all I do is const {value, done} = generatorObject.next(); ie. I can't possibly gain a handle on the object, ie. no reason for the engine to allocate a fresh object?

It is a requirement of the ECMAScript specification for generators to allocate a new object for each yield, so all compliant JS engines have to do it.

It is possible in theory for a JS engine to reuse a generator's result object if it can prove that the program's observable behavior would not change as a result of this optimization, such as when the only use of the generator is in a const {value, done} = generatorObject.next() statement. However, I am not aware of any engines (at least those that are used in popular web browsers) that do this. Optimizations like this are a very hard problem in JavaScript because of its dynamic nature.

Query to Find Adjacent Records in Access 2016

I have a table with a field called Result that contains values that can be anywhere between 1 and 100.

The table also contains a Date/Time field and is sorted from oldest to newest.

I want to be able to return adjacent records that have a Result of less than 3.

So, I need to first find a record with a Result that is less than 3 then check if the next records also have a Result of less than 3. If they do these records should be returned.

There may be no such adjacent records or there may be multiple records that meet this criteria.

Is this possible?

I've put together a short piece of code that loops the original data, ordered by the date field, and if it finds a result of less than 3, checks the following results until one of them is 3 or more. It adds all of the ID fields to a string, which can then be used as the SQL for a query.

CSS overriding a selector with a background colour works, but using no colour doesn't

I have a particular css setup - not really ideal but the "main" element selector is dedicated to having this background-color: white; and I can't change this.

I can edit the rest and add more css if necessary. Below is a minimised example of the issue using div in place of body so I can show both versions in one snippet.

I apply a background image with my div element and then I need the main element within it to have a different background-color (i.e. overrule the main selector)

So I used an id #num1 with the different background colour applied. Works fine.

On the second example, why does none not work? Why does a colour application overrule but none just reverts back to the white colour?

none isn't a colour, it is an image (or lack of one) and a valid value for the background-image property.

transparent is a colour.

You might be getting confused because the background shorthand property will default to transparent if you don't specify a colour and none if you don't specify an image making background: none equivalent to background-image: none; background-color: transparent.

That said the element with the id num2 doesn't have a background colour specified, so it is already transparent.

There is no colour you can set on it that will make it punch a hole through the background colour of the main element it is inside.

The answer was as simple as possible: I was generating the key prop for each array element using Math.random(), don't do it :)

Replacing it with simple array index fixed the bug.

P.S. Somehow the dynamic generation of key in order to not to use the array index, was blocking the process of getting parentNode property for the array element. It was returning null, although element had like 15 parent nodes before the #document root

From MDN Web Docs: "window.getComputedStyle() method returns an object containing the values of all CSS properties of an element, after applying active stylesheets and resolving any basic computation those values may contain."

Window.getComputedStyle() returns a CSSStyleDeclaration object which contains key-value pairs containing names of all the CSS properties. To get the resolved value of a particular CSS property, getPropertyValue("property-name") can be used. Additional context: I was trying to add tooltip to my project (https://flexgrid.asxyzp.repl.co/ref?platform=so), using tippy.js which creates a tooltip for every flexbox element using tippy('.box1',{content:``CLASS: .box1, ORDER : ${window.getComputedStyle(document.querySelector(".box1")).getPropertyValue("order")}``}); so that it would display the order of the flexbox element dynamically, even when changes are made, but it didn't work, so I tried to do it in fiddle, but even there I was getting the order for elements as 0.

Since it's completely unrelated to the main content and would frequently repeat, I thought it might even be a good idea to use aria-hidden="true" on it to make the experience of reading a forum thread with a screen reader more fluid, although according to MDN, aria-hidden "should not be used on a focusable element".

Based on the comments there are two things I would implement:

Item 1 - a

Put the signature in a

element, it is the most appropriate element for if you are using for each post.

I would also suggest you put an aria-label on each footer that says something like aria-label="signature for {username}" just to make it clear to people who use a screen reader.

Item 2 - keyboard navigation

People who use a screen reader will be fine if you have structured the page correctly and able to skip between posts without having to always listen to a signature.

However for keyboard users who rely on the Tab key I would recommend adding keyboard shortcuts to jump between posts so they don't have to keep tabbing past signatures.

An easy way to do this would be to implement keyboard shortcut keys for jumping between posts. "J" and "K" are widely used keys for previous and next items.

However I would also suggest a way to switch this feature off, just in case it interferes with a screen reader (as "k" is "next link" in most screen readers).

There are also very few objects in the array which have value as undefined for this popularity key.
How do you sort the array, using JavaScript (ECMAScript 2015) preferred, by popularity key descending largest to smallest, skip or move the undefined ones to the bottom.
