QUESTION
We have an on premise server (Windows Server 2012 R2) with an Azure Pipelines agent running on it. Today (31st Jan 2022) this agent could not longer connect to our Azure DevOps organisation.
Judging by the log files, I assume this is because it is trying to connect with an older TLS version, which as of today is no longer available - https://devblogs.microsoft.com/devops/azure-devops-services-to-require-tls-1-2/
So I followed the instructions on how to make sure TLS 1.2 was enabled, and confirmed my settings in the registry editor and by running the PowerShell script suggested here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/security/engineering/solving-tls1-problem#update-windows-powershell-scripts-or-related-registry-settings
All seems ok, yet it still fails to connect with the same issue. The machine has been restarted as well. If I try the URL it is requesting in the in built Internet Explorer browser, it fails, but with Chrome it succeeds, so it must still be trying to connect with TLS 1.2, but I don't know why. I've tried reinstalling the agent (with the latest build) as well but it fails on the same error. Any suggestions?
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-31 at 23:27Enabling below Cyphers with IISCrypto on the server helped us fix the issue
Cipher Suites
TLS 1.2 (suites in server-preferred order) TLS
- _DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0x9f) DH 2048 bits FS 256 TLS
- DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0x9e) DH 2048 bits FS 128

QUESTION
This error is popping-up intermittently while trying to deploy my github webpages. I have no clue what to do, I already deleted and recreated the repository but the error persists. I have the same problem for all my github pages repositories.
Here is one repository example: https://github.com/cnftstats/borgs

QUESTION
Initially, I deployed my React app (created with create-react-app) to Github Pages and it works fine. However, after a few changes to the src
files, I wanted to update the website so I decided to re-deploy the app using npm run deploy
and it finishes with Published
being printed at the end of the command. On Github, the actions shows that the build is successful, but it's not able to deploy, giving me an error code of 400.
Complete error log from Github is as follow:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Mar-17 at 06:37I haven't found a solution, but I have a workaround. If you go to the last working workflow run in the Actions
tab (look for a green checkmark), you can click Re-run all jobs
, which should deploy your webpage for you, including the latest changes.
Hope this works for the time being until there is a better solution!

QUESTION
I have run in to an odd problem after converting a bunch of my YAML pipelines to use templates for holding job logic as well as for defining my pipeline variables. The pipelines run perfectly fine, however I get a "Some recent issues detected related to pipeline trigger." warning at the top of the pipeline summary page and viewing details only states: "Configuring the trigger failed, edit and save the pipeline again."
The odd part here is that the pipeline works completely fine, including triggers. Nothing is broken and no further details are given about the supposed issue. I currently have YAML triggers overridden for the pipeline, but I did also define the same trigger in the YAML to see if that would help (it did not).
I'm looking for any ideas on what might be causing this or how I might be able to further troubleshoot it given the complete lack of detail that the error/warning provides. It's causing a lot of confusion among developers who think there might be a problem with their builds as a result of the warning.
Here is the main pipeline. the build repository is a shared repository for holding code that is used across multiple repos in the build system. dev.yaml contains dev environment specific variable values. Shared holds conditionally set variables based on the branch the pipeline is running on.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Aug-17 at 14:58I think I may have figured out the problem. It appears that this is related to the use of conditionals in the variable setup. While the variables will be set in any valid trigger configuration, it appears that the proper values are not used during validation and that may have been causing the problem. Switching my conditional variables to first set a default value and then replace the value conditionally seems to have fixed the problem.
It would be nice if Microsoft would give a more useful error message here, something to the extent of the values not being found for a given variable, but adding defaults does seem to have fixed the problem.
QUESTION
I'm completely new to trying to implement GitLab's CI/CD pipelines, but it's been going quite well. In fact, for my ASP.NET project, if I specify a Publish Profile in the msbuild
command that uses Web Deploy, it actually deploys the code successfully to the web server.
However, I'm now wanting to have the "build" job create artifacts which are uploaded to GitLab that I can then subsequently deploy. We're using a self-hosted instance of GitLab, for which I'm not an admin, but I can speak to the admin if I know what I'm asking for!
So I've configured my gitlab-ci.yml
file like this:
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Feb-08 at 15:22After countless hours working on this, it seems that ultimately the issue was that our internal Web Application Firewall was blocking some part of the transfer of artefacts to the server, or the response back from it. With the WAF reconfigured not to block traffic from the machine running the GitLab Runner, the artefacts are successfully uploaded and the job succeeds.
This would have been significantly easier to diagnose if the logging from GitLab was better. As per my comment on this issue, it should be possible to see the content of the response from the GitLab server after uploading artefacts, even when the response code is 200
.
What's strange - and made diagnosing the issue even harder - is that when I worked through the issue with the admin of our GitLab instance, digging through logs and running it in debug mode, the artefact upload process was uploading something successfully. We could see, for example, the GitLab Runner's log had been uploaded to the server. Clearly the WAF's blocking was selective and didn't block everything in both directions.
QUESTION
We have Xamarin.Forms solution with iOS and UWP projects. We use Azure pipelines to build the iOS project. Until yesterday everything was working fine. Now the build fails at the NuGet Restore step with the error:
##[error]The nuget command failed with exit code(1) and error(/Users/runner/work/1/s/"MyProjectName.UWP".csproj : error MSB4057: The target "_IsProjectRestoreSupported" does not exist in the project.
We can see that the problem occurs when trying to restore NuGet packages for the UWP project on the Mac OS build host. Image: macOS-11
Workaround will be to exclude it from the solution, but we are using it for testing purposes and this is not a good option for us.
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-26 at 09:39- Updated Answer This can be resolved using MSBuild task instead, as the collogues mentioned below. However, in my case this still lead to the same error. After investigating the pipeline. The root cause has been identified: Both in MSBuild@1 and XamariniOS@2 tasks you should target the specific iOS Project and not the solution file, like so:
" - task: MSBuild@1 inputs: solution: 'PathToIosProject/myproject.iOS.csproj' configuration: '$(BuildConfiguration)' msbuildArguments: /t:restore
" - task: XamariniOS@2 inputs: solutionFile: PathToIosProject/myproject.iOS.csproj' configuration: '$(BuildConfiguration)' packageApp: true signingIdentity: $(APPLE_CERTIFICATE_SIGNING_IDENTITY)

We have managed to resolve the issue. The root cause of it seems to be an update to the mono framework in the MacOS pipeline build agent. In order to fix it, we need a script for downloading and installing an older version of the mono framework as a first step of the build pipeline like so: link to the pipeline tasks photo
This is the code of the bash scrip used in the task:
#!/bin/bash set -ex
MONO_MACOS_PKG_DOWNLOAD_URL='https://download.mono-project.com/archive/6.12.0/macos-10-universal/MonoFramework-MDK-6.12.0.100.macos10.xamarin.universal.pkg'
mkdir -p /tmp/mono-install cd /tmp/mono-install
mono --version
wget -q -O ./mono-installer.pkg "$MONO_MACOS_PKG_DOWNLOAD_URL"
sudo installer -pkg ./mono-installer.pkg -target /
mono --version
ls -alh /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current

I would like to send arguments when I call an anchor with bitbucket pipelines
Here is the file I am using, I have to call after-script
because I need to push to a certain S3 bucket
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-21 at 19:45To the best of my knowledge, you can only override particular values of YAML anchors. Attempts to 'pass arguments' won't work.
Instead, Bitbucket Pipelines provide Deployments - an ad-hoc way to assign different values to your variables depending on the environment. You'll need to create two deployments (say, dev
and uat
), and use them when referring to a step:
QUESTION
I am attempting to get IronPDF working on my deployment of an ASP.NET Core 3.1 App Service. I am not using Azure Functions for any of this, just a regular endpoints on an Azure App Service -which, when a user calls it, the service generates and returns a generated PDF document.
When running the endpoint on localhost, it works perfectly- generating the report from the HTML passed into the method. However, once I deploy it to my Azure Web App Service, I am getting a 502 - Bad Gateway error, as attached (displayed in Swagger for neatness sake).

...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Dec-14 at 02:19App Service runs your apps in a sandbox and most PDF libraries will fail. Looking at the IronPDF documentation, they say that you can run it in a VM or a container. Since you already are using App Service, simply package your app in a container, publish it to a container registry and configure App Service to run it.

Install pipelines
You can use pipelines like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
