The [delayed_job] Ruby Gem provides a restartable queuing system for Ruby. It implements an elegant API for delaying execution of any Ruby object method invocation.             A microservice is a service that serve a business need - they are "Componentization via Services" - componentes of a bigger system, so they don't necessary need to be exposed to external world, but they can be.

            Does it have to be always a REST/ HTTP over call, or is it can be normal Java library method call packaged in the same runnable package.

            Microservices communicate over network, but it does not have to be HTTP / REST, it can also be a Kafka topic or gRPC or something else. The important part is that they must be independently deployable e.g. you can upgrade a single microservice without needing to change another service at the same time.

            The main problem of this question is: The famous: On my machine it works, that is, different framework versions.

            After installing the apache-beam[gcp] on my Cloud Composer environment (Apache Airflow), i noticed that the version of Apache Beam SDK is 2.15.0 and does not have ReadFromBigQuery and WriteToBigQuery implemented.

            We are using this version because is the one compatible with our Composer Version. After changing my code, everything works as well

            I need to execute various batch scripts located in a VM within my Resource Group. The call of these scripts needs to be orchestrated by Datafactory.

            I learned about Run Command in VM, and which can be used via PowerShell or Rest API. I was wondering if any of these ways is recommended to include in a Datafactory pipeline.

            My approach at this point would be to use a Web Activity to do the API calls, one for each script.

            My question: Is there a more recommended way to do this? Do you see any bottleneck or situation that may be a problem with this approach?

            I think it is the easiest way to achieve this, one point you need to pay attention to is the Authentication when using the Web activity, remember to choose the Managed Identity, and specify the Resource with https://management.azure.com/.

            To call the REST API - Virtual Machines Run Commands - Run Command successfully in Web activity, you also need to give the RBAC role to the Managed Identity(MSI).

            Navigate to the subscription or the VM in the portal -> Access control (IAM) -> Add -> Add role assignment -> search for the name of your ADFv2 and add it as an Owner/Contributor role.

            If you are not familiar with Managed Identity(MSI), refer to this doc. Also make sure your ADFv2 has the MSI, when creating data factory through Azure portal or PowerShell, managed identity will always be created automatically, if not, follow this to generate managed identity.

            I need to prepare an AMI based on CentOS 8 with pre-installed SSM-agent. Trying to use Image Builder for this. According to the documentation:

            Instances used to build images and run tests using Image Builder must have access to the Systems Manager service. All build activity is orchestrated by SSM Automation. The SSM Agent will be installed on the source image if it is not already present, and it will be removed before the image is created.

            So the question is how to prevent removing of SSM-agent? I need to keep it installed. Unfortunately couldn't find a solution in the documentation.

            ImageBuilder installs the SSM agent if SSM is not present in the source AMI and uninstalls the agent before taking the AMI. When ImageBuilder installs the SSM agent, it keeps track of the installation of the agent(in a file) and it is located at/tmp/imagebuilder_service/ssm_installed. you just need to remove that file as part of your build, then it won't remove the SSM agent.

            I have a requirement of customizing the email sent to the user, from AD B2C, when she/he resets the password.

            To provide a branded email for the password reset, I'm following this code, since it looks like that the only other option is to use Display Controls, which are currently in public preview (so I cannot use them in production): https://github.com/azure-ad-b2c/samples/tree/master/policies/custom-email-verifcation

            The readme clearly states that it can be used also for the password reset, but the code only provides an example for the sign in email verification.

            I tried to add the verificationCode OutputClaim in various TechnicalProfiles, but I'm unable to visualize the custom verificationCode textbox that is needed by the provided javascript code.

            I'm thinking that maybe I should use a specific ContentDefinition, but I'm really struggling to find the correct way to update the custom policy xml.

Now I am in the process to start/stop my ec2 instance automatically every day, but once it is started, I want to run some ssh to be able to change to the directory where docker-compose.yml file is, and then start it.

            I would recommend using cron for this as it is easy. Most of the corn supports non-standard instructions like @daily, @weekly, @monthly, @reboot.

            You can put this either in a shell script and schedule that in crontab as @reboot /path/to/shell/script
            or
            you can specify the docker-compose file using the absolute path and directly schedule it in crontab as @reboot docker-compose -f /path/to/docker-compose.yml start

            Other possibilities:
            1. Create a systemd service and enable it. All the enabled systems services will be started on powering.(difficulty: medium)
            2. Put scripts under init.d and link it to rc*.d directory. These scripts are also started based on the priority.(difficulty: medium)

            If you specify restart policy in the docker-compose file for a container it will autostart if you reboot or switch on the server. Reference

            I have been using Google CLoud for a few weeks now and I am facing a big problem for my limited GCP knowledge.

            I have a python project whos goal is to "scrap" datas from a website using it's API. My project run a few tens of thousands of requests during executions and it can take very long (few hours, maybe more)

            I have 4 python scripts in my project and it's all orchestrated by a bash script.

            The execution is as follow :

            • The first script check a CSV file with all the instructions for the requests, and exeute the requests, save all the results from the requests in CSV files
            • Second script check the previously created CSV files and recreate an other CSV instruction file
            • The first script run again but with the new instructions and again save results in CSV files
            • Second script checks again and do the same again ...
            • ... and so on a few times
            • Third script cleans the datas, delete duplicates and create an unique CSV file
            • Fourth script upload the final CSV file to bucket storage

            Now I want to get ride of that bash script and I would like to automatize execution of thos scripts approx. once a week.

            The problem here is the execution time. Here is what I already tested :

            Google App Engine : The timeout of a request on GAE is limited to 10 minutes, and my functions can run for few hours. GAE is not usable here.

            Google Compute Engine : My scripts will run max. 10-15 hours a week, keeping a compute engine up during all that time would be too pricey.

            What could I do to automatize the execution of my scripts in a cloud environment ? What could be solutions I didn't though about, without changing my code ?

            A simple way to accomplish this without the need to get rid of the existing bash script that orchestrates everything would be:

            1. Include the bash script on the startup script for the instance.
            2. At the end of the bash script, include a shutdown command.
            3. Schedule the starting of the instance using Cloud Scheduler. You'll have to make an authenticated call to the GCE API to start the existing instance.

            With that, your instance will start on a schedule, it will run the startup script (that will be your existing orchestrating script), and it will shut down once it's finished.
