Vuejs Webpack Compression Plugin not compressing
            Asked 2022-Mar-28 at 12:53

I need help debugging Webpack's Compression Plugin.

            SUMMARY OF PROBLEM

            • Goal is to enable asset compression and reduce my app's bundle size. Using the Brotli algorithm as the default, and gzip as a fallback for unsupported browsers.
            • I expected a content-encoding field within an asset's Response Headers. Instead, they're loaded without the field. I used the Chrome dev tools' network tab to confirm this. For context, see the following snippet:
            • No errors show in my browser or IDE when running locally.

            WHAT I TRIED

            • Using different implementations for the compression plugin. See below list of approaches:
              1. (With Webpack Chain API)

It's not clear which server is serving up these assets. If it's Express, looking at the screenshot with the header X-Powered-By, https://github.com/expressjs/compression/issues/71 shows that Brotli support hasn't been added to Express yet.

There might be a way to just specify the header for content-encoding manually though.

First, this error message is indeed expected on Jan. 11th, 2022.
See "Improving Git protocol security on GitHub".

            January 11, 2022 Final brownout.

This is the full brownout period where we’ll temporarily stop accepting the deprecated key and signature types, ciphers, and MACs, and the unencrypted Git protocol.
This will help clients discover any lingering use of older keys or old URLs.

Second, check your package.json dependencies for any git:// URL, as in this example, fixed in this PR.

As noted by Jörg W Mittag:

            There was a 4-month warning.
The entire Internet has been moving away from unauthenticated, unencrypted protocols for a decade, it's not like this is a huge surprise.

Personally, I consider it less an "issue" and more "detecting unmaintained dependencies".

Plus, this is still only the brownout period, so the protocol will only be disabled for a short period of time, allowing developers to discover the problem.

The permanent shutdown is not until March 15th.

But when I add import 'semantic-ui-css/semantic.min.css'; to index.tsx as instructed, I get a failed to compile error.

Judging from this issue: CSS import breaks webpack 5 compilation
I believe this is an issue with Semantic-UI-React and Webpack 5 (which is used by Create-React-App).

The final answer in that issue is a suggestion to switch to Fomantic-UI 😅

This should be reported into the upstream repo: https://github.com/Semantic-Org/Semantic-UI. The problem is that it's dead 🙄 Reasonable solution is to switch to https://github.com/fomantic/Fomantic-UI.

You are using react-router-dom version 6, which replaced Switch with the Routes component

Node is currently treating your .js file as CommonJS. You need to tell Node to treat it as an ES module.

Try adding "type": "module" in your package.json file.

You can place it anywhere at the top level. E.g.:

SVG stop running chained animation ( tag)
            Asked 2021-Dec-26 at 09:01

I have an animated SVG where each starts after its previous . The first starts on click or 0s.
I have a problem with stopping the animation (without JS, only in XML). I press click, the animation starts. Before the entire animation ends I press click and trigger a new animation. However the previous animation continues to run and it messes up all s starting from 2.
I have tried different options (begin with time offsets; begin with id.end), but I haven't found a solution. Maybe someone who is more experiences with SVG than me could help me?

Instead of chaining animations off one another, have all the animations begin="0s; 3005.click". Then they will all reset when you click.

You can use keyPoints and keyTimes, to control when each of the animations starts. So you can still have your staggered starts.

Right now I am having a hard time importing const enums from external libraries. I don't have control over that external package. It has the const enums defined in it's d.ts files.

I have tried with babel-plugin-use-const-enum babel plugin and preset. It doesn't help me either.

According to this thread, where the plugin's creator is involved, babel does not transpile .d.ts files, making it impossible to get enums from there. The only option seems to be migrating your config to use ts-loader and include the .d.ts files that have the enum declarations
