Create hierarchical summary of XML nodes
            Asked 2022-Mar-24 at 03:41

Is there a way of using SQL or Python (or another language) to return the node-tree for an XML document?

In the XML document example below, the employee node appears twice but the second time it has more nodes within it... same with the address node. Is there a way to return the structure (without values contained within the tags) so that you can see all nodes that exist within another node? Sort of like creating a pivot table of all the field names in an excel document?

Why is the SVG of my raster plot so blurry?
            Asked 2022-Feb-08 at 11:35

I'm trying to print a raster visualisation. It renders fine in RStudio, but when I save it using the base svg device it comes out super blurry - as though each square of the raster is a massive pixel and they've been interpolated at some stage in the process.

            Here's a reprex:

The geom_raster is being interpreted as a low-res raster, so it seems that the svg device is attempting to interpolate it (you will see the same image in the plotting window if you use geom_raster(interpolate = TRUE)). One way round this is to use geom_tile instead:

JavaScript/HTML Word Guessing Game: difficulty levels w/drop-down
            Asked 2021-Dec-02 at 00:06

I am working on a project to have a random word guessing game. So far most of the code is working but I am trying to implement some rules on the length of words displayed to the user as a measure of game difficulty (shorter words = easier, etc). I am using a drop-down menu to get the user's setting selection, and then have rules in the JS tags that are supposed to be handling this.

After toying around with this for several days, I was hoping that a fresh pair of eyes might have a suggestion about where I am going wrong to be able to enforce the rules I am trying to enforce?

The specific functions that should be handling this are setDifficulty(), getSelection(), and randomWord()

Excel will struggle to use a function declared directly from a dll entry point as it doesn't know the types of the parameters (and other things, eg how to manage the memory of the return value). The OP's method from the tutorial may have worked in the past, but not any more it seems.

Creating a VBA user-defined function (UDF) wrapper gets around this, as Excel knows how to handle and marshal parameters in this case:
